Was holding off on doing a will attend until closer to the event, but just found out that the kids youth group is doing a fall campout that weekend.. And this event is “close” for us..
Still hoping that the campout for the kids gets canceled.

We’ll hopefully be staying at my in-laws cabin, not for sure yet but hoping so.

Updating my tentative to a “will be camping”. We plan to camp the entire weekend and will be bringing our pop-up camper. Can’t wait!

I’m putting off my foot surgery until late October, so I will definately be camping. Hope to have the nephews with me, but if not, I will come solo.

well if the new hitch that came in today is the correct one, then we will be camping this weekend as well.

My understanding is that RAC is – non electric, non water, pit toilets, etc. correct?

Sites are on 1st come, 1st serve basis? what about fees? (read $12-14 online).

Any good spots to pick up firewood? will I be selling my first born to get it?

Is there anything else I’m missing? I’m trying to get my arms around filling the new camper and making it there Friday right after school. Oh and solve a few puzzles between here and there… 😉

Any insight would be appreciated 🙂

Robin and Lauryn and I will be staying both nights at a motel very close by.

We do however enjoy campfires. I wonder if one of the folks camping there will have a campfire big enough for us to share. Would love to sit by the fire Friday night, even though we cant camp.

I have a 9 yr old that loves to play with his flint knapper and wood. Look for the biggest fire in the place 🙂

Correct. Water is available in the campground, but not for hook-ups.
Checked on one shower place today, if anyone wants that: Friendship Corners, SE corner of 13/21, $5 for 20 minutes, one person at a time. Or go use the one in zuma’s motel room. And don’t go to the NW corner of 13/21. Just saying… 😯

First come, first served at this time of year. Self-register, drop money in an envelope in the place provided. See the main info board at the main parking lot. Sites 1-25 available. May be some non-cachers on some sites. Price looks about right.

Friends of the Park sells firewood. The two sandlanders will be going on Thursday to help unload a new shipment. Cost is $5 for a bundle of kiln-dried, certified (can take it anywhere in the state) small oak logs–Maybe 6-7, burns well. Since there will be no one on duty to sell to you after 4:30 Friday night, we will keep at least ten bundles with us to “cruise” through the campground with to sell to cachers. Since we don’t want your first-born, even as well-mannered as he is, the cost will be $5. Also, Ace of Adams (not far NE of the CITO site, between Pamida and County Market) sells bundles of wood for $3, local, but not certified. They’re open 8-6 both Fri. and Sat. RAC will have someone available during the day to sell you firewood on Saturday. We can also bring some of our logs to help out with any fires we may be sitting around.

We’d like to do that, too, zuma. Nothing beats sitting around a good fire with good friends. So, we’ll be out there Friday evening, too.

Yeah! Bring some chairs or we’ll slide a picnic table over. We love campfires….now I need to procure the fixins for smores 🙂

Thanks so much Pat for all of the info. Our camping this year has been at a private campground that my in-laws have a permanent site at so those details have already been taken care of for us so I wanted to plan ahead.

If all goes as planned we should leave Oshkosh by 3:30ish and get there around 5:00. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

We will be getting there of Friday. My son Jim (Wingwalker) will be the fire tender. Some of you may know all about Jim from a few other campouts. With all the will attends we should have more than 1 bonfire.

Looking at the weather forecast – we’re opting to hang out in a hotel room to stay warm and dry. 😆

My family decided they’re not coming to the event. I will not be camping in the park. I found alternative sleeping quarters.
