Not to worry, my family snores loudly enough that I figure any real bears will take off running 😆

09/16/2010 at 7:44 pm #1931797Yes, there are black bears in the area, occasionally. When my husband was riding his bicycle a few weeks ago, he saw one cross the road in front of him. That’s our first sighting in 35 years of living here. You will have very little chance of running across one when you are caching, though. Make some noise while you’re in the woods, if you want, and the bears will most likely avoid coming anywhere near you.

anybody else remember “The Parent Trap” and the evil step-fiancee being told to tap two sticks together to scare the bears?…. 😈
on that note RT3 is in the living room pounding on a coffee can with two tinker toy sticks singing at the top of his lungs… guess we’ve got our own bear repellant…now to find the culprit that GAVE him the coffee can…..
09/16/2010 at 9:56 pm #1931799It’s also gun bear season right now. I’m not sure if it is in the zone around RAC but up in the north woods it is. So they will either be hiding or looking for revenge…
09/16/2010 at 10:07 pm #1931800No bear hunting season around here, but Saturday is the start of bow deer season, and unless you want to end up with an arrow in your posterior, you might want to give the bowhunters some space if you cache on some of the DNR land around here. Do those caches more around midday rather than late afternoon or early morning.
