Is anyone aware of a GSAK macro to filter on winter-friendly geocaches?

    Thanks in advance!

Cache attributes are not part of a GPX file, so that data is not in GSAK for filtering. However you can set up a PQ for the winter icon. Then when you import that into GSAk, you have to set a user defined field with something that indicates to you that the cache is winter friendly. Its a long work around but it can be done.

Last year Puzzler made the comment that with enough effort most caches are winter friendly so I took it as a challenge. 95% of the time he was right.

Attribute ARE part of PQs now. GSAK doesn’t choke on them, but doesn’t handle them internally quite yet.
I’ll see if I can come up with a macro for you…

Wow… here one minute, gone the next. Attributes have been removed from PQs again. Sammy Claws must pay closer attention than I do…

    Doh!

    Double Duh!

The Pocket Query solution is just fine. Thanks so much 🙂

With a little pre-planning, winter caching (non urban) is actually pretty easy. Anything found since the most recent snowfall will probably have obvious tracks in the snow to follow. If it hasn’t been found in a few months, there’s a good chance that it isn’t easy to find with snow.

Incidentally, the attributes got removed when every other program except GSAK choked on the files. I suspect they will be back once they develop some sort of option to include or exclude the attributes from the file.
