I’ve been playing around with GSAK and have been coming up with some interesting statistics on geocaches in Wisconsin. Here is just a few that I’ve come up with.
There are approximately 2129 owners of all the active caches in the state. I would have guessed that there are more.
There are approximately 11881 individual geocachers that have found at least one cache in the state during the last 12 months. I doubled checked this number because that’s a LOT of geocachers.
About 1100 geocachers have logged a find in the last month. That is almost the same as during the same time last year.
Waukesha County has the most active caches of any county. (866)
Menominee County has 1. (virtual)
Florence County has 19.Delorme Page 39 has the most caches with 1008.
The full page with the fewest caches is page 74 with 20.
Page 57 has 2 and 104 has 2.There are 2613 D1.5/T1.5 caches and 2 D5/T4.5 caches.
Any or all of these numbers might be off by a little bit, but should be very close. If I come up with anything else interesting, I’ll post it later.

I’m interested to hear what other stats that you come up with 🙂

Yes. 😕
Of the 11881 geocachers that have found a cache in Wisconsin during the last 12 months, 8018 have found less then 10 caches in Wisconsin.

How many park and grabs?
How many puzzles?
How many island caches?
How many …… ?

As long as he doesn’t go nfl stupid on the stats its all good…
“He’s 21 of 31 when its 40 below, the wind is coming from the NE at 3.14159 mph, he’s got green underwear on and the cat’s dish is full”

Are you speaking of Dave or Jim?? 😯

02/13/2010 at 5:15 pm #1922065I think it would be kind of fun to see what other states/countries Wisconsin cachers cached this past year.
And neither of those two D5/T4.5 caches is old enough to qualify for the California Well Rounded Cacher. So I’ve been told. 😉 In fact, that combo is rather primo anywhere. People trying to qualify for the Ontario WRC are having to travel to Michigan to attain it! It’s one of just two we still need to be able to qualify for the original WRC.
For us, the coolest thing about doing the well rounded is finding that most of these rare combos require a bit of travel, so we get to cache somewhere new, and they are usually pretty memorable caches once we’ve done them. Eagle Source was one of those. Still our favorite! Most of our favorites are ones we’ve discovered trying to fill in “the grid.” Looking to complete the grid again with older caches has added more favorites, too.

How many …… ?I can tell you how many puzzle or mystery caches there are (1386), but “park & grab” is hard to quantify. Same with island caches because of all the ambiguities.
There’s 1250 active caches with WSQ in the name, 59 with Wisconsin Spirit Quest, 30 with F.O.G or F. O. G. in the name, 13 with Thanatopsis, 44 others with Cemetery in the name, and, not surprisingly, 18 with Cemetary in the name. That’s 1414 cemetery caches, but I’m SURE I missed a few.

I only have info on Wisconsin caches, and that is the idea of this thread. Just pointless statistics.
There are only 57 caches that have the word “bird” in the title in Wisconsin. The average D/T is 2/2. 8)

OK. How many caches with “cat” in the title? Will they outnumber the “birds”? 😉
