Inspired by similar challenges in other states, the DeLorme Challenge requires you to find a cache on every page of the DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer. For Wisconsin, that’s 81 pages, although I’m counting three of the page insets as separate pages for 84 pages total:

The rules are pretty simple: Find a physical cache on each page. Previous finds count, even if those caches have since been archived.

Once you’ve filled in the map, I will either send you the coordinates for where the cache is hiding, or I may bring it to an event and have you publicly sign the log and be recognized for an amazing caching accomplishment!

Wondering how close you are? Generate a GPX file of all your finds and plug it in here to see.

This is meant to be a fun challenge, and hopefully the rules aren’t too restrictive.

    A couple notes:

Page 57 has just a tiny sliver of land that currently has no caches. The first person to place on there can take credit for that page with a hide instead of a find.
Page 104 has a cache, but it hasn’t been found in awhile. Same as page 57, the first person to hide a cache here can take credit for the page. Remember – no “vacation caches”!

Who will be the first to complete the challenge?

    NICE —

Glad someone actually officially got this one going.

Hope to be able to complete in the next two – three years. 🙂

You’re telling me… Four years of caching and I only have twelve pages covered. I need to get around a little bit more… 😳

    By the way…

The rules are not chisled in stone. If you see some obvious blunders or have some “What if…?” situations that need to be addressed, please let me know.

Yeah!!! Another reason to go visit the bears in Chippewa Falls, Irvine Park. Those guys are just so darn cute! 😀

Very nice! Its good to have a Wisconsin challenge and an easy way to determine which pages you’ve done. Thanks

Now I have yet another reason to do more traveling for caching – yeah!

A note to people who emailed me about having trouble uploading their GPX files:

There’s a security check to make sure you’re actually uploading a valid GPX file and not some malicious script. For some reason, people were getting “Invalid File” errors, but when they sent me their file, I could upload it just fine. I did some tinkering and I think it should work for everyone now, so please try it again.

Also, don’t upload the *.zip file you get from GC.com. You need to extract it first and upload just the GPX file.

    Thanks Dave
I only have six to go, the ones I need are 53, 57, 58a, 82, 92 and 99. Any takers to help me go find caches.

Page 53? Really?! Drop us a line if you’re coming this way and we can give you the guided tour. Maybe. It’d be good to meet you 8) .

Wow, we already have 17 pages complete, not bad for out of staters. Of course now that we just finished finding a cache in every county in Michigan 😀 , now you are going to give us enticement to tour Wisconsin, sweet. 😈 Cool web page to see where you are at. I like it.

    Finished two fun features…

When you’re viewing your map, hover your cursor on the right half of the map, and click the “NEXT” link that appears to see approximately where all your imported caches are.

When you’re looking at your stats, pick a different cacher’s name from the drop-down menu to view their stats. Open up their progress map, click “NEXT” to see their caches, then click “NEXT” again to see a comparison map of yours and their completed pages.

Wonderful!!! it works just fine now. Let’s see… if I go here, then slide over to there, and then back up here… What do you mean my boss is on the phone?!? Tell her I’m busy! 😛

Thanks… this is cool… We found out that we have completed 52. So now how do we find out how many are in the UP of MI?

32 pages done. Looks like it is time for a road trip.

Hey, that is very cool. Thanks for setting this up.

That web page is too cool. I did notice that it marks pages as found for Michigan caches. It might be something to look at.
