I made a small update to the page calculator…
When you get your “My Finds” query from gc.com, you can now upload the ZIP file directly; you don’t need to extract the GPX file out of it first. This means the uploaded file will be a lot smaller and should run much faster.
10/06/2006 at 3:31 pm #1764841Now you change it. I just learned how to unzip the file and load it. 😆

Did you also have a program for counting counties too?

Download and install the following program that Doug of the abcdmCachers put together (this assumes you have Windows):
http://www.logicweave.com/CountyCountSetup.msi
Someday () the WGA website may count counties, states, and DeLorme pages and then update your stats automatically using your My Finds pocket query. I’m not sure if Dave plans on adding any county counting functionality to the DeLorme calculator…
10/08/2006 at 2:26 am #1764844Thanks Jeremy, That is what I was looking for. I knew it was out there somewhere.
10/08/2006 at 5:13 am #1764845For those of us using GSAK, there is a macro on the website called (appropriately enough) counties.txt. This macro will put the name of the county in the User Data 2 field. Very handy and quick to use (after the first run, which takes a while. Also, you need to download the coordinates for the Wisconsin counties (and any other state you are interested in.) Instructions are provided.

So far, figuring out the math for doing this is eluding me…

I might have something like that…
I’ve been working on this for awhile and I think I’ve got most of the bugs worked out. I’m not making a big deal about this (yet) so other than a few others I’ve told, it will just be for whoever happens upon the link in this post.
To use it, you need to be a Premium Member at gc.com because you have to be able to generate the “My Finds” pocket query. Do that, take the zip file you’ll get in an email, and upload it to the site. Among other stats, you’ll get a list of all the counties you’ve found caches in, along with a handy map!
Thanks to Team Deejay for a big assist with the county calculation code!
Please give it a whirl and see if it works for you!

Wow – I thought it was going to be just a Wisconsin thing, but it’s not!
Very fun to play with – thanks!
10/18/2006 at 2:06 am #1764849Pretty cool Cheesehead Dave. Thanks!
11/23/2006 at 2:34 am #1764850Whoo hooo! We made the leader board, although just barely. But none the less we are there for now.
11/29/2006 at 8:58 pm #1764851Just want to put out a word of warning, com the 15 of December (or the first snow fall of December)Blessed Be the Rock cache (or as some call it Page 57) will be disabled due to it going to be really icy out there so i prefer no one getting hurt, so if you want to get page 57 before the winter settles in go now you have until the 15th!
12/06/2006 at 1:09 am #1764852ok PAGE 57 IS DISABLED! (or Blessed Be The Rock) its to dangerous! Til next spring!
