Zuma has come thru on his promise to beat Natloh and Jeremy to the finish. Now that is some power caching!
Way to go, Ralph!
09/29/2006 at 2:31 am #1766061Hey, wait a minute here, he still hasn’t logged the final! Natloh or Jeremy might still cache up!

Seriously, this is pretty impressive. Nice job, Ralph!

You must of racked up some serious Mileage. Great Job. Keep up the awesome Work.

09/29/2006 at 7:23 am #1766063Incredible Cinderella story. This unknown, comes out of nowhere, to lead the pack… in the DeLorme Challenge. He’s at his final cache. He’s about 455 yards away, he’s gonna use his Garmin 60cx I think. The crowd is standing on its feet here in Wisconsin. The normally reserved WGA crowd, going wild… [pauses] for this young Cinderella who’s come out of nowhere. He’s a Cinderella boy. Tears in his eyes, I guess, as he lines up this last cache. He’s got about 195 yards left, and he’s switched to, looks like he’s switched to a Magellan eXplorist. This crowd has gone deadly silent… Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now, about to become the DeLorme Champion.
I was informed I was in a “race” with Ralph on Saturday. I contacted him Sunday and told him to slow down… when he got around to responding on Monday he said it was too late to slow down as he now had all 84 pages. 😯 🙂
Congratulations Ralph… definitely an impressive run for the record books to grab all the pages and caches you did over the past week. It is quite fitting that the guy who has an excellent cache series that runs through the entire state of Wisconsin (Yellowstone Trail Series) is the first one to complete this challenge requiring you to geocache in all the corners and nooks and crannies of the state.
09/29/2006 at 2:49 pm #1766064Wow, congratualtions! I hope to follow in your footsteps in the next ten years or so. 😆
09/29/2006 at 4:08 pm #1766065A little birdie told me that he’ll be finding the final on Monday…
09/29/2006 at 4:13 pm #1766066A couple people have asked me this question, and I’ve added the answer to the cache page:
“So only one person can find this cache?”
No, this cache is not a race to see who can finish it first. (although it’s quite an honor to be the first to complete it.) It’s a challenge to get you out to areas of the state to which you’ve never traveled.
Even after zuma finds the final, the challenge will continue on for anyone to complete.
09/29/2006 at 4:17 pm #1766067Does the little birdie know the time and coordinates so we can all be there to watch? 😆

I think I know the place, but I don’t know the time…
09/29/2006 at 6:44 pm #1766069I guess it was more of a personal challenge, and I loved visiting all of the last pages. There are a lot of great places to cache off of the beaten track in this state.
I got the final page last Sunday, I forget the page number, but it was Bertom Bottoms in southwest Wisconsin, along the Mississippi. I have next Mon – Wed off, so hope to go to southeast Wisconsin to find the final then.
The biggest challenge came when my daughter wrecked my new computer, so I am without a computer at home for a few weeks, which means no gsak and no pqs. God, I hate it when I cannot adequately feed my addictions.

09/29/2006 at 7:34 pm #1766070Great run Ralph! All of the gas stations in the state wanted me to pass along their thanks! I am sure you now know every road in the state like the back of your hand. Happy Hunting!

I can lend you a laptop – complete with GSAK and other geocaching programs (thanks Cathunter), if you would like. It is not needed at this time so it really would be no bother. I’ll trade one tent for one laptop if you promise not to tell Chiot that the laptop exists. 🙂
