Wisconsin Geocoin

I like the idea of different metals on the coins, too.

I would hope the theme would be Wisconsin, geocaching, and the WGA, if that’s who is organizing this…if it IS getting organized.
I’m sure it was discussed recently. I just hope it wasn’t tabled until the new Board members are elected. Coasting can cause delays! 😕

My 2 cents… I have never created a geocoin so it really is just 2 cents.

I agree, stick to the WI only plan, for the 2010/2011 coin what ever year this is going to be for. I like marc’s idea for a additional project, be interesting to do the whole US that way.

That idea has come up before, but they couldn’t fit the tracking number on the Rhode Island coin…

So, what’s the latest word on the Wisconsin geocoin? ❓

Requests for quotes have been sent out and we are finishing up that stage of the process. After we choose a vendor and get costs figured out we can set a price. We also need to put our stamp of approval on the factory’s rendition of the artwork. After that we should be able to start the pre-sale process.

I don’t want to put any time frame on the process in case something doesn’t go as smoothly as anticipated. But, things are starting to move pretty quickly. Keep watching for announcements.

Latest word is that the geocoin committee is gathering quotes from the various mints to compare cost. We currently have three quotes and are looking to make a decision soon. Please don’t ask what “soon” is 🙂

I would need to review the committee forum to determine what the date we had in mind to have these available ,unless someone else remembers.

As with the Pathtags, there was much to consider, even more-so for the geocoin. We have several quotes and hope to start the minting process soon. More to come as soon as we have more info.

Will there be a picture of the sample posted with the pre-order?? I would love to see the finished product, the chosen design was very nice!

I believe all members and “friends” (WGA site users that are non-members) can order from the WGA store on this site. The intent of the sale is it’s open to the public.

There are no current plans to mint a separate edition of the coin from the primary edition.
