#1 Having it as an image file (such as .jpg) is fine. But you must “upload” the image to the Internet World somewhere. So hopefully your email account comes with some web space where you can store stuff. Bascially you need to get a copy of your image file from your computer to some web provider space.

#2 Then you need to know the COMPLETE web address to that image. For my example I will use the web address of the WGA logo that you see in the upper-left corner of the WGA web pages. That jpg’s web address is:
    http://wi-geocaching.com/forums/logo.gif

#3 Now go into the Edit mode of your geocaching.com profile, and make sure the box is checked that says “My profile details are written in HTML format” … it’s right above the big box where you can type “Latest News” information.

#4 Then in the box where you want the map to appear, such as the “Biography” area, you need to type the following:

Using are WGA logo as an example, that would be:

NOTICE THAT THE QUOTE MARKS ARE REQUIRED

ALSO … if you read my message above and say to yourself “but I don’t have any web space to upload the image to” …

… no fears, you can make use of the WGA website’s photo album area, but you have to do it right … this is how:

#1 Click on “Photo Album” from the WGA home page.

#2 Since you already have a “shrek & feona” album in place, simply upload you map image to your album.

#3 Now it gets a bit “picky”, normally you can click on one of your album photos, but you still will see it inside the WGA album frame, but you need to know the web address of JUST the PICTURE … so …

#4 Make sure you are viewing just the picture you want

#5 Right-click on the picture and then click on “Properties”.

#6 Look in the properties window for the Address (URL) of the picture, HOWEVER usually the whole address will not fit in the properties window … so use your mouse to highlight the whole address (on my screen it seems to take 3 lines in the properties box).

#7 Then right-click and “copy” the ENTIRE address (starting with http:// …etc… and end with .JPG). Make sure you have it ALL! You can now paste that address into your User Profile and add the rest of the code (including the quotes) that are needed.

As an example of what I explained above .. the correct web location address for your cool “shrek devils tower” photo is: http://wi-geocaching.com/photo_album2/00000210/P6240738.JPG

Converting THAT photo to show on your Profile page would mean creating this code:

Actually, everybody has webspace available. If you go to GC.com and open the Edit Account Details page, scroll down to the “Your Photo” link and use that page to upload an image, then link to it from wherever you want. You don’t actually have to set the new picture as your photo.

You could also use a photo hosting service such as Photobucket or Flikr.

    Good points Cheesehead.

I never thought of the fact that I could use my SnapFish account too … I’m just use to ordering my photos and deleting them off.

thanks for the help it took me awhile it was a gif pic and it wouldnt take that so I had to change it to a jpeg

Hmmm… did I get it right?

OK, EnergySaver, the above line worked to post the jpg to my GC.Com profile.

Why did it not work here as well?

    Marc:

The “code” for this WGA message board, is different that a true HTML page like the GC web site. It’s not “img” code but something. Can’t think of what it is right now … anybody else???????

You can use the UBB tag

This is described on the UBB Code Explained page, which is linked to in a couple places in the forums. We specifically don’t allow HTML in the forums for security (and other) reasons.
