First and foremost I need to emphatically state:
**** There is absolute nothing wrong with the hide, placement, t/d ratings, ownership or maintenance of this cache. ****
I just had a very unfortunate run of bad luck that I feel necessary to warn others about. I have contacted the owner and informed him of my intentions and reason behind them before typing this here as I felt it only fair and proper.
On 10/17 at The Jungle I backed into something twice that caused a rash on the upper 1/3rd of my back and left shoulder to elbow(the 2 centroids of where I was poked). To add to it, 6 days into the rash I had a reaction to a antibiotic and it spread to all parts of my body including the unmentionables.
I was out of work for 8 days because I couldn’t sit back and for a while, no one was sure if I was contagious as it was originally diagnosed as shingles. To that on call doc’s defense, I would’ve called it the same after reading up on it as it presented just as shingles was described and pictured.
My intent for this is not a pity party, nor to demean the cache and for sure not the CO. It is strictly a word of caution like I have received, and much appreciated, on these boards in the past.
TBC made it to the cache fine that day, as have 24 others without any note of problem. The cache name is appropriate and the t/d ratings I feel are adequate.
Many people in the world have it much worse than I have for the last few weeks, I just don’t want anyone to go through it if I can help. Dress appropriate and take your time, you will be fine.
Thanks for reading.

11/09/2010 at 4:01 pm #1938548Did anyone ever correctly identify the root cause of the rash?
11/09/2010 at 4:15 pm #1938549I am sorry to hear about all the misery!
We did this cache and it was a bit rainy of a day when Anna and I went out. We had boots, pants and jackets on. I have to say, I am thankful for that after hearing about this. Thanks for the reminder to always be careful!

Unfortunately no, which makes one think how I could I say it was there? And I agree, but suffice it to say that all the clues add up too perfectly for it not to be. Its not impossible but just way too coincidental for it not to be the source.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
11/09/2010 at 7:21 pm #1938552Oh, how miserable! Thanks for the reminder to be careful. We’ve learned to wear long pants no matter the weather. No glory in another case of Lyme, and long pants helps with that…a bit.
Glad you’re doing better.
11/10/2010 at 1:30 pm #1938553Glad you are getting better. Hope that continues. Thanks for the warning.
I suffered a pretty severe case of poison ivy summer before last. Actually got it in NJ, Liberty Park. It was raining and our friend was illegally parked so we ran to the cache as fast as we could. Never thought of poison ivy in a park like that and did not see any warnings on the cache page. Much more careful watching for it now as I ended up having to go on Prendisone for a week to help get rid of it.
Mrs. TE11/10/2010 at 1:56 pm #1938554Glad to hear you are recovering. Funny thing…I seem to break out with some sort of rash when I DON’T go caching for awhile. I pick up a few P/Gs and it gets better. Strange.
