I don’t know if this has been posted before or not, but for those who have done The World Wide Quarters virtual cache in north central WI can stop in the Wausau Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, sign the log book, and receive a commemorative coin for the visit. They will just ask you a few questions to verify that you stopped at the cache site. Currently they are out of coins but will mail you one when they arrive. This log book goes back to the 1960s and was originally in a tavern/general store in the nearby town and kept up by the owner. After he closed the tavern, the log book was taken over by the Visitor’s Bureau. A geocacher paying a visit to this cache would be like a Muslim making their pilgrimage to Mecca (Sorry if that offends anyone 😳 ). The visitors center is open normal business hours and can be found at exit #185 off the freeway just south of Wausau. Look for the Teepee shaped building it shares with Subway, next door to Culver’s.

Thanks for the info. Now I just have to remember this until the next time I find myself in Wausau. Would a picture of my GPSr while at that location be good enough proof?

I believe you have to stop at the office to sign the log book. If you show them a picture, that may be enough, but I can’t say for sure. The question they asked me was pretty easy, yet it did verify that I had been to the sight.

Thanks for the info… been to the world quarters and share that locations geographical info with students often. Have been in the chamber many times but never knew about the book… will get that on our to do list ASAP.

    Thanks,

Took the day off to go get this one. Sides tomorrow is my birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride up and the site. I have previously stood on the yellow line at Greenwich and now I have stood at the 45° point.

When you go be sure to stop at the Wausau visitor center. Sign the book and receive your token. Also ask for Highway 51 AKA Chris. She knows the book inside and out. Also steered us to another great cache. Just meeting her made the drive up from Fond Du Lac worth while.

Becoming a member of the 45-90 club priceless.
