Oh, yeah, NOW you tell us!!!!! 🙄 🙄 😉
Gonna have to think twice when doing maintenance on this cache from now on! 😯

Fortunately, Mountain Lions only live about 12 years in the wild.
The Mountain Lion I saw is for sure long dead by now. This was a while ago.

Coyotes, on the other hand, are a different story.
I’ve spotted a ton of Coyote tracks on the river, near and on the island (across from Anchor Bay bar & restaurant) when I was walking out there, and on multiple occasions, so I know they’re abundant and active in the area.

The first time this year I was walking back from across the river this year, it was at night when we had a full moon.
I heard what sounded like at least a a half-dozen coyotes howling.
By the sound of them, they weren’t more than a half mile away.

I’m not too afraid of coyotes, though. They’re small dogs. Like 40 pounds at the most. They eat mice and rabbits, not people.

And besides, if a pack of coyotes decided to make a meal out of me (HIGHLY unlikely), I carry a giant MagLite that holds 6 D-Cell batteries. If you thought the 4 cell versions that policeman use was big, you need to see mine!
40 pound coyotes won’t stand much of a chance if I’m swinging that huge flashlight.

I only saw it in silhouette because it was between me and a street light, so to me it appeared all black. I know that would make it a Jaguar,…

If I’m not mistaken, if it is all black it would be considered a panther not a jaguar. Jaguars are very rare in the United States, but have recently been sighted in Texas or New Mexico. Panthers are more down south such as Florida. Panthers are basically the same as cougars, pumas, and mountain lions. They’re just black.

I remember about 20 years ago, I would have sworn that I saw one just south of highway 60 between Hartford and Hustisford in mid afternoon. I glimpsed whatever it was for probably about a second. It was disappearing into some tall grass. I remember seeing the mid section and tail. I really believed what I saw was the real thing, so I kept watching the paper and news and such for other reports but never saw nor heard of any. I figured if I did, it would probably turn out to be someone’s escaped pet. Anyway, I never heard a thing so I figured it wasn’t what I thought it was. I just wish I would have seen whatever I saw just one second sooner and one second longer.

Yes you’re right. I meant to type Panther but for some reason I typed Jaguar.
But I highly doubt what was a Panther, although not entirely impossible.
My money is still on Mtn Lion.

Back in 93-94 there was a black panther in the Neopit,WI area in Menominee Reservation. Was a logger back then and Saw the tracks in the mud, my cutter saw the cat. Story was it was a pet that got too big and they released it in the wild.
