A while back there was a thread about your geocaching name. Just curious about the avatar–why you chose it, where you got it, do you change it, anything else you might want to add. Mine is just because I like hot air balloons and someday would like to take a ride in one. I found the picture somewhere on the Internet, and I don’t change it mainly because I was lucky to figure out how to post it to begin with, I am not messing with it (still can’t get it added to my gc.com profile). What’s the story of your avatar?
09/19/2011 at 1:02 am #1953282The sunflower came about not long after I started posting. Back then, quite a few people were avatar-less, but I liked the look of the little pics by people’s names. I just looked through all the photos I had taken (that took quite a while, too!), and one of a sunflower caught my eye. I used that one for quite a while, but the one I use now I took while on a trip last summer to the southwest where there were wild sunflowers lining our route in quite a few spots. This particular pic was taken near the entrance to Mesa Verde NP in SW Colorado.
I like the question, amita. 😀

09/19/2011 at 1:40 am #1953284Ours is the artwork from our personal coin that we had designed back in 2006. We have used the same artwork for pathtags since, but have used it for an avatar for so long, that would not want to change it now. Back then, we did alot of caching in the UP of Michigan and downstate by the Trolls. that is why we had the MiGO (Michigan Geocaching Organization) logo on our coin, Since then we have drifted away from some of our early geocaching friendships and made many more here in Wisconsin.

09/19/2011 at 2:25 am #1953286This is the boat which Captain drives during the summer season and also forms the basis of one of our caches, which is hidden nearby.
09/19/2011 at 2:29 am #1953287My current avatar is from one of my favorite Spongebob episodes. It’s also my reminder that I’m closing in on getting my black belt in a few short weeks. After that I’ll be changing to something else (unknown yet).

Cool boat!
09/19/2011 at 3:28 am #1953290I used to use our gotta run stamp from letteboxing, but I am just a big fan of Get Fuzzy, and particularly Bucky. I use different variations for different online venues.
Bucky is a giant PITA but he’s basically harmless, which pretty much describes me.
On the Left Side of the Road...09/19/2011 at 4:09 am #1953291Mine is a pic of my GPS unit…… 😆

09/19/2011 at 12:25 pm #1953293Ours is a Pileated Woodpecker, because when pressed, I’d say that’s my favorite bird. He’s carrying a canvas bedroll/pack, which is what Trekkin’ carries to get to his historical treks. I drew this thing myself and it is also our letterboxing stamp (courtesy of Timberline Echoes!)
09/19/2011 at 12:42 pm #1953294I lost a race by 7 seconds…
09/19/2011 at 1:55 pm #1953295I wanted to use a different image, but it wouldn’t work because the file was too big. So, I settled on this clip art pirate.
