I found this picture somewhere on the internet, don’t know where, of a boy and a girl holding up a cache and celebrating. Seemed perfect. Before we knew of geocaching we used to talk walks together as often as possible. After walking along seemingly every street in our area many times, we started driving to other neighborhoods or parks and taking walks there. Now we take walks and geocache as often as possible. This is our 3rd avatar in a little over a year, but I think we’ll stick with this one.

Mrs. Northwoods and I are into Halloween big time. Every year there is a different theme at our house. McZombies, Graveyards, Haunted just about everything. Being a teacher in a small K-12 school, we get every kid and many off Island connected kids. The creatures in the photo are one of the many projects I have created with students in my art class, and the kids really enjoy them. They are also a regular Halloween participant at our house.

Mine is my main geocaching companion. Since she’s the one in most of my uploaded photos for virtuals and EarthCaches it only seemed fitting to use her as my avatar.

Tom, Are those friends of yours “screamers?” I made one once, but time took its toll and the poor creature died a screamer-like death. They are fun projects, nice and messy, too.

That is the origin of the project. We call them “Yardgoyles”. Sculpture idea courtesy of Dan Reeder.

My avatar is a cat doing a back handspring on a balance beam. I love cats, people call me Kat for short, and the blance beam was my favorite apparatus to tumble on….I saw the avatar on the web and just seemed fitting in a weird sort of way. 😀

There don’t seem to be many avatars with a photo of the person so I’ve been thinking of changing mine. But I just love this spot so much that I can’t seem to bear to. My avatar is a picture of me posing in front of the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone. This is the most amazing sight I have ever seen in real life. It takes your breath away! I hiked up a steep (but thankfully short) hill to get this view and I’m so glad I did. This is also on my geocaching.com profile and my facebook page. I may get tired of it one day but for now I just love to look at this amazing geothermal feature.

      mmmm…… beer

When my daughter was in St. Louis they found a Simpson bar. She has a stonecutter tattoo and she drank free duff beer all night.

Ours is the Manx cat, which is also the 5 AM alarm clock.

A photo of my best side? Actually I’ve always wanted to look like Benny 7210.

Mine is Calvin and Hobbes, my favorite strip of all time.

I use a capital Z that is made up of 2 arrows going in opposite directions on Facebook and GC.com as my avatar. The styled Z is superimposed on a simplified globe which is meant to convey the idea that I love exploring the earth in all directions.

Eventually, I will probably update my logo here to the Z avatar that I use everywhere else.
