Not to make light of 79-year-old geocacher Chuck dying in Arizona, but keeping in mind that his family noted that he died doing what he loved, how would you envision meeting your end while geocaching? You can make this light-hearted or the perfect way to go. If you involve other cachers in this “event”, just keep things humorous and nothing mean-spirited.
Have fun with this.
07/23/2012 at 2:33 pm #1962655If it was caching, I probably would be out with others. That is how I have been caching of late. I also know that there would be cachers that would pay the respects and share stories with my family.
07/23/2012 at 2:58 pm #1962656I want to go in my sleep like my Grandpa did, not like the 50 people screeming on the bus he was driving at the time.
07/23/2012 at 5:17 pm #1962657In my wood shop building a cache. That way I can be doing the two hobies I love
07/23/2012 at 5:25 pm #1962658I was thinking about this story today as I was caching on a trail around one of our parks. It was upper 70’s when I started early, low 90’s when I stopped a couple of hoursa later. I paced myself a bit more than usual, but was still drenched in sweat by the end.
Now I’m sitting in the A.C. recovering!
07/23/2012 at 5:30 pm #1962659It just occured to me that many of us may not realize what kind of danger we sometimes place our selfs in when we go out caching. Many of us have climbed trees, scaled rocks, mounted an attack on an island or gone caching all night. We come away from those places with a smiley face for our stats, but also with our health. Even in this extreme heat, we add a certain level of difficulty to this crazy sport that we love.
07/23/2012 at 7:03 pm #1962660My mom and I have had discussion about where we would want to be buried after we died. This topic has come up because it seems my dad has been a bit obessed with his burial. My mom want to be cremated and given my brother permission to put her ashes in his garden (it was my mom’s). I told my mom to creamate me and then find one of my geocaching friends to help place a cache near the ashes. This way people will come see me on a somewhat a regular basis.

07/24/2012 at 5:14 pm #1962662I’d like it to be as I win the cash prize at my final Cache Ba$h surrounded by friends
07/24/2012 at 6:45 pm #1962663If I do make my “exit” while caching – I hope I( don’t have my grandkids with me. I went caching with them this morning and they found four of them for me. Nothing unusual – execpt I came home from the hospital 2 weeks ago after having heart surgery. Really felt good being out again – I also feel great…

And I would be standing next to you and your $100 check and my $500.
07/24/2012 at 9:24 pm #1962665No offense, but I hope I’m not caching when I meet my maker.
If I do go while caching though, I hope it’s while I’m someplace deep in the woods experiencing nature as it should be experienced (i.e. not struck down by a car at a quick roadside P&G). My preference is that I’m alone, I go quickly & quietly, and that someone finds me before too long (i.e. I don’t want anyone to witness my passing which may make them feel like they didn’t do enough to save me).
07/24/2012 at 11:53 pm #1962666If it happens caching, like CJ, anything but a P&G, and not at the negligence of somebody else.

07/25/2012 at 3:10 am #1962667My goal is to be shot dead at the age of 87 by a jealous husband of a beautiful woman, while her and I share a hootie reward at a cache deep in the woods.
