I think it would be interesting on this cold cold day to each of us share with us what their favorite cache is, of those owned by you. Is it the first one, or is it in a special place, or maybe has a special container?
So a question for all: What is your favorite cache that you own?

The Rock Elm Disturbance GC16KZC .
Seriously, how many caches have a meteor impact to feature?01/11/2009 at 5:34 pm #1900071Hard to choose, but probably “Flash! Malanaphy Falls for Geology!” an EarthCache outside Decorah, Iowa. It’s a geological wonder of cave, spring and waterfalls at the end of a spectacular mile long hike above the Upper Iowa River. Locals often comment they never knew it was there.
GC1C7AZ
For physical caches, maybe “Lyin’ Among Friends” in Hixon Forest. Though not a unique type of hide, for our area it is, and it’s in a part of the trail system I particularly enjoy year round, although it’s not a winter friendly hide.

So Ralph, what’s yours?

Seriously, how many caches have a meteor impact to feature? That is pretty friggin cool Lostby7! One of my new favorite caches will be “Lost By Seven” which is a long overdue tribute cache to a certain fellow puzzle maker and inspirational soul. Now, I just have to figure out where to put that sucker….

I’m honored but that is not necessary as most everyone already knows my head is swelled enough as it is. 😈
01/11/2009 at 10:14 pm #1900074My favorite cache is the one that is found least often. Templar Treasure (GC18WMQ) has unique containers and props, a little puzzle to find the second stage and two islands to explore. It’s really not as tough as it sounds. The first stage is worth stopping at and is a unique P&G.
01/11/2009 at 10:54 pm #1900075Pirate Pete’s Plunder. GC172T8. Was just a whole lot of fun to put together and people who find it like it, which makes it worthwhile.
Borrowing from -cheeto’s- idea–we’d be remiss to overlook GC1HMCJ, Shawano County Cemetery challenge. It took months to put this one together, we learned a heck of a lot, and discovered a lot of places–that’s the point!
On the Left Side of the Road...01/11/2009 at 11:17 pm #1900076So hard to choose just one. So I’ll compromise and choose one regular and one puzzle 😀
GC17163 – Apple Creek Crossing is by far my favorite cache placement to date. It’s a great cache spot along a creek on a paved walking trail. You must cross the creek from the trail to find the cache. It’s a micro but the placement is a very fitting micro placement and the cache is more about your surroundings than the container.
GC15F6F – Historic Neenah- Whiting Boathouse. I worked very hard on all of my historic Neenah caches to try to find accurate historical information and present a learning experience with each one. However, this is the kind of cache I personally like to do the best and that’s why it’s my favorite of the series. You have to “explore” the area around the boathouse looking for clues in the field and then you find the cache very near where the old police boat was parked in one of the old pictures. Oh and the “urban camo” hide technique on the cache has proven successful on this and another of my caches.
Now I have to hit submit before I change my mind….
01/11/2009 at 11:25 pm #1900077I have to echo cheeto’s idea – can not make one selection.
But both mine are puzzles …….
GC19Q1Z. I had a fun time picking the selections, and then making up encryptions for each one.
GC1D5JM. This has to be one of the easiest puzzle caches that exist, but so few cachers can figure it out!
01/12/2009 at 12:19 am #1900078Of the caches’s that I have placed this one, GC1DFG7 False Echo’s is my favorite. Reason #1 is that this location/Lake holds a lot of meaning to me as I spent many summer evenings here fishing with my Grandfather. #2 It is a nice hike along the North Country Trail ending with a nice overlook of the lake that means so much to me.
Thishas only been found 3 times since I placed it in June. It rally doesn’t suprise me as it is way out in the sticks, but I thought some mor foks would ave chased after this one by now. Might even make a great snoeshoe run.
I do have others tha I do ike quite a bit but none of them have the same combination of hiking and “Sentimentalness”(is that a word?)
01/12/2009 at 1:38 am #1900079Jim, We had started out for this one, hiked along the shore quite a way, and realized we had to find another way to it, with time running out on our day. It’s on our list to do sometime, as it really is a pretty area. It’ll be one of those days where we get just a few and take in the view. We have enjoyed all the caches we’ve done on the North Country Trail, and there are many more yet to find!
We did do Brunsweiler Canyon nearby, which was also a beautiful, peaceful spot.
01/12/2009 at 3:20 am #1900080You will like it when you get there. Follow the NCT into the woods from the camping area and you will get there no problem, but you will have to walk away from the lake to do it.
Brunsweiler Canyon is also a great spot. I wanted to put it on top of the bluff in the picture but I didn’t have the resolve or the time that morning as we were leaving the northwoods when I placed it. Look for another next summer if I get up that way as I have another planned and it will be the kind of cache you will love.
01/12/2009 at 3:42 am #1900081it’s a tie… one in AZ, and one in WI.
GC1864X 😈
before i left AZ last year, i wanted to place a cache on a peak nearby that was a prominent feature on the skyline outside of town… but i was mean about it… no hints, clues, or parking. the cache is approx. 1.5 miles from the nearest parking location, but nearly 1500 feet up, and the climb is not pleasant especially in the AZ heat (no trail either).GC141TC
In WI, it’s another climb, located outside of Mellen. It’s approx. 3 miles from Mellen High School. I used to run to the top for cross country practice 2-3 times a year. The trail to the top brings you through abandoned foundations and buildings from the ore mining operation. There are also lookouts that give great views of Mellen and the Penokee Mountain range.01/12/2009 at 3:22 pm #1900082All of my favorite caches were recently archived. They were my Riddler series of caches. Someone in the area though they belonged to them, and not me, so I archived them to bring the puzzles home. Each individual log could only be signed by solving a physical puzzle box or the like. I t was a reall fantastic series.
Of my existing caches, Match Head would be my favorite for to many reasons to list. My only hope is that you all enjoy it as much as I do.
01/12/2009 at 6:43 pm #1900083All of mine have some sort of reason to me behind them, but I think my favorite would be 2000 Echo’s I can honestly say that the reason for the cache had a large impact on my vision of life and my surroundings.
