I guess now it would be Felsenmeer Ridge (GC10G67) outside of Rice Lake. It highlights a unique geological feature, is a longish hike and has a great view at GZ. Plus it takes you right past a significant Indian pipestone quarry. It started as a simple addon to my Pipestone Quarry cache (GC10G4M) but evolved into something more.
I was inspired by the oldest cache in Eau Claire County (Green in Green (GC9F0), by Klahn) so, I’d always wanted to hide a 10 gallon pail with some really neat information inside for the finders to read about the area while at the cache. So, eventually I was able to transform Felsenmeer Ridge into that type of tribute cache.
01/12/2009 at 7:33 pm #1900085I’d have to recommend my:
GC13FWY “Harrington: Risen to Power”It does require finding two other caches first … but they are very close by and only a few feet off the paved trail.
This is not your typical cache and even less likely to be “legally” in a State Park … only because the Park Ranger helped me plan it and helped “construct the spot” is this even possible without breaking some law, I’m guessing. Also, it has the “slap yourself on the forehead” factor when you arrive at ground zero.
I have a lot of caches in this park … but if someone asks me what one(s) to do if they don’t have much time, this is the no brainer answer to that question.

That’s it… D. 🙂
01/12/2009 at 8:52 pm #1900087Wow, I’m surprised at how many of these we’ve done, and have really enjoyed, too. We really need to get over to the state parks outside Kenosha/Racine and explore what’s down there. We just seem to miss that corner in our travels.

You should get down here sometime. We do things a bit different. We use containers like vacuum cleaners, blenders and shower-heads, and I believe we have some of the best cammo around. In Kenosha/Racine, you really have to pay attention to the difficulty levels. Fear not though, we’re a helpful bunch and we have plenty of ammo box caches too.

01/16/2009 at 5:14 am #1900091my favorite cache is GC1HVE4 Make Mine a Combo.
it is a multi-cache. when you go to the cords listed, it will take you to a tool box with camo tape on it, and a combonation lock on it. you sit there and think to yourself “this is evil”. on the locked tool box there is a magnetic hide-a-key with 5 other cords in it. each of the other cords will bring you to various camo’ed 35mm containers with a combonation in each of them. they are all on the same bike path or near it, so they arent hard to get to. you must go to all of them to find the right combo, or do you?! i know it seems like a lot, but if you want the smiley, you have to work for it.
if you are down in the lake geneva area, check it out..
