This coming weekend, October 10-11, is Wisconsin’s annual youth hunt for deer gun hunting where young people go out with mentors to have a special hunt. If you are out and about in Wisconsin’s wild places Saturday and Sunday, don’t forget to wear blaze orange! And be safe!
And keep this in mind when you are planning your caching trips to any events (the events should be OK, but the caches you may want to find on the way there or back may be in hunting areas) or to find EarthCaches for the souvenir on Sunday.
We did Pewit’s Nest last year for our EC souvenir, same weekend. No hunters, but hordes of people there! They have extended the parking area so that about 45 cars can park there now, as opposed to 15 before, but whatever you do, if there is no parking in the lot, DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD! They had so much trouble with that over the summer that cars were being towed without any warnings being given. With as warm as Sunday is supposed to be, there might even be people in the water and perhaps cliff diving. It will be a zoo. Just don’t get too close to the edge when you are on the top.
