When I saw Zuma #2 in the title I thought there might have been another announcement. Maybe Noah was going to have a lil buddy at the campout.

    But alas, Congrats anyway Zuma.

Wheeeew. When I saw the topic heading, I too was afraid she was making some kind of personal announcement….. Man, I would like to tell my mom first, if you guys dont mind. 🙂

Maybe zuma #2 is a clone, so he can be in two places at once (takes care of that work thing), or maybe so he can get twice as many caches!

Heh, heh. I’m just happy to see you didn’t lap me as badly as I expected… Robin must have had you on a pretty tight leash 😉 . Talk soon my friend, can’t wait to hear the stories.

The #2 thing is not important to me at all, after all we are all going to get passed by drhaas pretty quickly anyway. (The only number thing that I still care much about is staying 1 find ahead of THB,)

We had a great time in Vegas. I still have 2 days of caches to log, photos to log, and trackables to pick up, so I am still a little behind. Yet it was too nice today, to sit by the puter, so I went cachin down in La Crosse and had a great time. So I really dont know how many we found.

We cached a bit each day, but didnt cache hard any of the days. Lots of people get 100 finds/day in Vegas running around getting skirt lifters. I dont think we found more than 25 or so on any one day, as we kind of planned each day around an adventure in the desert. We did pick up a couple of skirts here and there, but I cant do more than 3 or 4 of those a day without getting sick of it. There are literally hundreds of skirt lifters in Vegas, that get found 20 times more often than the great caches out in the desert, where we spent most of our time.

We did go to Red Rock and that was as great as advertised, and we did some awesome caches there. We went to Utah one day, and the drive there was awesome, thru the Virgin River Gorge. We went to Kyle Canyon one day because I wanted to do the Slot Canyon EarthCache and there was some unexpectedly great caching there.

On the final day, I took our rental SUV on a BLM “trail” that often disappeared in the desert. At one point Robin and her friend screamed in terror when they thought I was gonna roll it off the top of a hill where I lost track of where the trail was, and that was a lot of fun. LOL.

Anyway, I will post a list of my favorite Vegas caches within a week or so, once I get em all logged. Sneaky Pete will be at the top of the list.

No leashes involved – we just spent a good amount of time on the “scenic byways” (dirt roads, kind of) checking out the desert. It was fun, except for that one near death experience 😯 . I did give him a little grief about looking for caches in parking lot lampskirts when there where lots of great things to be seen and done. Overall it was a great trip – I liked the caching a lot more than the casinos (even with todays gas prices caching was cheaper than spending time at the casinos). Luckily we had exceptional weather with some nice breezes, cloud cover on most days and highs in the low 80’s. I would be glad to go back any time.

Congrats on the number 2 ranking!!
Glad you enjoyed Vegas. That area is so nice to cache in because it is so different than our lush green enviroment here.
Please email me any killer have to do caches out there as we are going in November

    Congrats, Ralph!

    #1896838

I gotta give you credit Ralph. I don’t think that I would be able to do much caching knowing that there is a River of Virgins there. That is what you said wasn’t it? Anyway, congrats on the ranking. Keep it up.

at our first cache in LV, I had Trudy read the log to me, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.. could it really be true.. Zuma & WI_Robin were here just a week ago?

Now I find out that you took that same awesome drive into Utah. Trudy was snapping pictures as I drove. I must have a hundred photos of the same dead bug on the windshield.. taken from several angles.

We are happy that you found the same joy in that wonderful stretch of road, and congratulations on your achievement. ~T&tb

Silly question to Zuma or Trudy & the Beast. Last year when I took this route between Mesquite & St George the Virgin Gorge was under construction. That is the road and not the Gorge. The views were great then but you had a lot of construction equipment spoiling the views also. Please tell me the construction is gone

      Hi,

yes, the road construction is done thru the gorge. The waysides are being rebuilt still, which affects a couple of caches, but the road is in great shape.

For those who havent visited, the Virgin River Gorge looks a lot like a 3/4 scale Grand Canyon, only with an interstate highway running thru it. Great views, amazing that they built a road here. It is about a 2 hour drive from Vegas to St George, Utah.

Ya What he said, only allow extra time, for the stops at the available waysides. BTW, we loved St George. With 60K population, it at the northern edge of the Grand Canyon. St George is one of the fastest growing communities in the nation. There is an airport, Great medical facilities, mountains on three sides and wonderful little shop called Dairy Queen.

Wow, I just saw the post asking for recommendations for caches in Vegas and had checked your profile to see you hadn’s logged any caches from Nevada . . . . .on the first page!!

Anyway Congratulations on the #2 spot and for doing 100 caches in Nevada (if I counted correctly). Plus the trip through the Virgin River gorge. That’s the way we drove home when we were out there in ’07

Sorry you missed out of GC659
That was the favorite for our trip, but slowed me down as it took about 3 hours and a vehicle with off road clearance!
