Best of luck!! Keep your bow faced into the wind…..

I see a few names in this thread who have never even hunted for a Rogheff cache and live on the other side of the state.
I’ve enjoyed almost every one of your caches at some level. I appreciate all of the work you put into placing caches and I wish I was half as creative. If I didn’t like them, I wouldn’t keep coming back.
The “not posting the size of the container” thing was not specifically aimed at any one person or group. I see it all over the place and it is often not associated with anything spectacular or creative at the end.
Yes…everyone should go ahead and play however they want but this game is all about bringing people together in the pursuit of a passion. It is not about trying to show how superior you are to the next person and it is not about placing caches for only a select few members of a crew or regional click.
People who know a hiders tendencies have the option of choosing not to engage in a search but those who don’t know the practices, intent, and tendencies have no idea what they are getting into.
Every effort should always be made to make the hunt enjoyable for the average cacher. Assume the people who hunt your cache have never hunted one of yours before. A properly equipped and informed cacher will not be angry with a DNF as long as every effort has been made to make the hunt enjoyable no matter the difficulty. A properly informed cacher has enough information to decide if they want to hunt for a specific cache.
Why should any cacher have to choose not to hunt caches that don’t list the size? In my opinion that is exclusivity and it is not an acceptable practice or stance. How in the heck would a visiting cacher from another state know what they are getting into. The sport is intended to be open to anyone and everyone.
I don’t get overly upset with a DNF unless I see something wrong. Nobody likes DNF’s but it is part of the game and it is expected from time to time.
I like variety, so go ahead and place anything you like. Just play fair and keep it honest. That’s all I expect and I hope others would agree with this.
If I’ve offended, I’m sorry. Once again, I’m entitled to my opinion and you to yours. The simple fact that everyone will not always agree is what makes life interesting.

How about avoiding the types of hides you don’t like. There, that’s simple enough.
I like ALL types of caches. Hide them all.
Sounds easy, but many people don’t list the size of the cache and/or don’t really provide any information that could be used to weed out offending caches.

I would say extremely irritating.
AND HOW and AMEN!!!
I feel not posting DNF’s is lazy and self-serving.
Of course you don’t need to post a DNF if there was a muggle sitting at GZ and you never even had the opportunity to look for the cache. Although, a purist might still log a DNF on it.
I’ve read some threads where people say they log DNF’s on any cache they did not find that day if it was on their list of caches to do that day even if they never even hit the “go to” button. Now that is a little extreme.
I proudly log my DNF’s whenever I don’t find the intended object/cache after I’ve made a physical effort to make a find. If my feet leave the car and I start following the magic arrow then that is an effort to find. I will post a DNF if I don’t find it. A DNF is a badge of honor. It is better to have cached and failed than to have never cached at all.
The only exception in my mind, other than the muggle at GZ, would be for those who never log their finds. If you take the time to log your finds(self-serving), then the simple act of not posting DNF’s is selfish and lazy.
Now that is just my opinion and I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone. There is no rule that says you have to log a darn thing. My opinion is my opinion and your opinion is your opinion. I’m entitled to mine and you to yours. I’ve not directed this at anyone, so if it hits a nerve then too bad.
I can wait a bit.
Way to go and welcome to the club!
At the next WGA camp-out, you have to run around the camp fire three times wearing only your GPSr and sensible hiking boots. It’s all part of the initiation into the club. I’ll just let someone else fill you in on the finer points of membership.
Congrats on #4,000!!! I’m sure Geocaching Widow echoes our sentiment and support as you push toward the big 5,000.
Mama Hawk would only like to add a sigh and a shake of her head. She is still mad at what you got me into.
GREAT NEWS!!! With ever restrictive policies being adopted around the State, it is nice to see common sense prevail. What a wonderful approach on this one!! Now we just have to see if the same approach will yield the same result in the future.

Good point….if you are seen with a GPS you are in trouble if you are seen marking the labs coords I’m thinking your trouble index just went through the roof….you may be better off getting it out of sight as quickly as possible and perhaps marking your coords if needed in your pocket and out of view….granted if confronted and the marked coords are found….I think this is where a +3 cloak of invisibility would be in order.
The cloak and a minor globe of invulnerability would do the trick or you could poly-morph into a minor woodland creature unless you are up against someone with an incredibly high intelligence or a dispel magic spell handy. 😯 😯 WOW!! Where did that come from???
Gosh I thought I was the only one that thought like that. I had it supressed for many years and now its out again.
Once a geek, always a geek. Don’t suppress that which you are. Embrace the geekness and remember that geek is the modern chic.
WE HAVE HEAT!!! Thank you so very much for the recommendations. We made a few calls, obtained a few quotes, and had the furnace installed today. Sure…I’m out a few thousand shells but I can once again feel my toes.

Also found an aluminum foil pipe in an urban park in West Bend. I CITO’d a few aluminum can smoking devices from parks in the Racine/Kenosha area and I’ve run off at least two groups of teens/kids smoking pot in the Racine/Kenosha area. I’ve also stumbled into a pot growing operation and its “gardener” in a section of woods directly behind the MPS Administration building.
I hope I never run across a meth lab. Way too much money involved, and the danger threat to the unfortunate cacher is off the chart.
If something doesn’t look or feel right, just play dumb, turn around and walk away. I wouldn’t bother marking the coords and I would actually conceal my GPSr. I’ve got tracks enabled and I can obtain coords from the tracks after I’ve made my retreat.
Thanks for the info. I’ll give them a call. At this point, we are not so much concerned about nickel and dime savings. You can do that in the summer or during warmer weather. We just need a quality furnace installed within a few days. The first to come in with a reasonable quote, with an acceptable install date, will get the not.
Still holding at 50 degrees. We might just make it through the night!!
Thanks for the info.
Our recently departed furnace is a 35 year old Lenox with a dura-curve heat exchange coil that has a bad crack. Just to add insult to injury the massive blower assembly is shot. Some old Lenox models can be retro-fitted and brought back to life, but not our model. In other words, no way of fixing this poor old horse. More funds into the money-pit.
I was hoping to buy a new car before the end of the year, but it looks like I’ll have to nurse it through the winter until we replenish the funds.
We have Roth Heating and Air Conditioning and a Rheem contractor scheduled to come over for an estimate on a new furnace this morning and we hope to have a new furnace installed sometime this week.
It is currently 55 degrees in the house, so we will probably be in a motel tonight.
Thanks again for the recommendations!! I’ll give them a call.
