See, cause we’re already dorks, this isn’t a problem for us! 🙄

Speak for yourself!! I’m a caching stud. 😉

I don’t own a celll phone. I took my wife’s celll phone with me once but I ended up locking it and my keys in the car while out at the Bong Rec Area. OK…maybe I’m a stupid caching stud. 🙁

However, I have phoned a “friend” once but I had to use another cacher’s phone. I only felt guilty for a second or two and then I moved on. Life’s too short to get your undies in a bundle over an issue such as PAF.

The black rubber ring around the unit has fallen off and the screen is all beat to heck but it still gets me close enough most of the time.

So that was you, my lawyer will be calling. 😆

We started with an Etrex Legend C and now have upgraded to the 60Cx.

It would be easier to see the road if someone could figure out some way to mount my E-Trex Legend about 12 inches in front of my face while I was driving. Then I could see the screen and I would be able to see a good portion of the road most of the time.

I know my old E-Trex will die someday and I can’t wait to upgrade to a high end model.

I just went on a maintenance run of a bunch of my caches in Minnesota. I pulled out at least half of the contents. Those contents, in addition to the items I mentioned above, included a small bottle of VODKA and a camera with less than family friendly photos.

Bottoms up!! No reason to CITO a full mini bottle of Vodka out of the woods.

Hope you get someone to take care of it. We had a tire roll into the highway in front of our house and when we called to try and get help with getting rid of it we were accused of trying to get rid of our own tire through them… it actually became “our problem” and we ended up having to pay to get rid of it.

Ouch! I guess the “no good deed goes unpunished rule” applied in your case.

I attempted to call the Parks Department and I left a message. Nobody called me back and we went on vacation. I returned to find an e-mail from one of our volunteer reviewers asking for additional info and coords because the Parks Department had contacted the reviewer about my posted log. I relayed the info and made myself available to assist in any way. I’ve not hear anything and I don’t know the status of the tire dump. I hope they get cleaned up.

I never decoded all of the code around the map and I only decoded two of the glyphs before I just decided to search Topozone for a spot that matched. I had a fairly good idea of where to focus my search because of a few pronounced man made features on the map. I found the location and re-sized it within 30 minutes. I was expecting something a little trickier but I was also glad that I was done.

If I only searched for caches within 50 miles of home, I’d never clear them all. It took me a year to clear the caches within 10 miles. Then again, there are a few more caches in these parts.

I’d bet that Trekkin’ will hate the query unless you provide something a little more “interesting” as a reward at the end of the search.

Hey, I’ll hunt for almost anything but what gets me is when the posting does not list the size of the cache and/or if the coords are waaaaaayyyyyy off. Micro’s can be a lot of fun but I would like to make the decision to search for a micro myself instead of blindly wandering around looking for “something” hidden “somewhere” in the “general vicinity” of “nothing.”

I would recommend that you contact Milwaukee County Parks at (414) 257-PARK. They will take it from there. You DID shoot some coordinates of the dumpsite, didn’t you? Anyway, if not, just describe where is it in “muggle terms”, that is 200 feet south of the railroad, and 100 feet east of the trail. This appears to be private property, but the line is very close, so I assume MCP would at least be interested.

Of course I shot coords!! Gosh, what kind of fool do you take me for? Don’t answer that.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give them a call tomorrow.

in reply to: Can I log my own cache?!!!?! #1876987

The Fire Tacks and Fire Tape look COOL!!!

I noticed that a Newbie had logged a cache twice, one for the find and one for a TB drop, and sent a friendly e-mail to advise on the proper procedure. I received a very defensive and somewhat nasty response. The Newbie advised me that he was following the proper procedure. That’s news to me??? I’d bet the newbie got that bit of wisdom from some geocoin pirate or TB collector.

BTW…I never had any connectivity issues. I have Road Runner digital high speed and I didn’t notice any slow-downs or access issues.

Congrats to all who finished the quest, to pharmteam’s high finish, and to those fortunate enough to win a prize in the raffle!

It’s good to see Trekkin and Birdin win a prize after all their troubles on the quest. Now they just need to recover the loot to close out their Quest.

I think the WI contingent did a bang up job and we didn’t have to resort to placing a bunch of “catch all” caches out there like we saw pop up around the country.

I got a kick out of some of your Johnny Waypoint “stars.” Some looked like respectable stars and some looked like they were completed with the assistance of Jack Daniels.

I can’t wait to see what kind of idea they come up with for the next Quest!

    Great job posse!!

in reply to: Poison Ivy? #1876152

Ouch!!! Wasps or nasty itching blisters for a few weeks? I think most people would run through a field of poison ivy naked as an alternative to a wasp swarm. We’ve all been stung by a bee or wasp before, but most have not had an ivy reaction. Therefore, the flight defense mechanism will prevail most of the time.

I still have a few blisters that don’t want to go away. I think the fact that I continue to cache in ivy infested areas only fuels the fire even though I’ve been wearing long pants, long sleeved shirts, and gloves.

My reaction has been fairly benign. No infection, severe itching, or scars. I actually talked to my doctor about the blisters because I thought I might have been having a simple allergic reaction to some other substance. My doctor confirmed that I had poison ivy and said that I was very lucky because most people would react significantly worse if they continued to expose themselves while infected.

He also warned me that my next outbreak could be MUCH worse.

    Good luck with your exposure.

I went months before I found my first Jeep in “the wild.” Now I run into about one a month.

The Ecorangers “Jeep TB Hotel” has a white, a yellow, and three green Jeeps waiting to be discovered or traded. It is a Jeep only Hotel, so don’t try to swap any old TB for a Jeep. You don’t need a Jeep TB to visit but you need one to grab a Jeep out.

I thought TB’s were not trade items but I could have read wrong.

I thought the Hotel was neat because you at least know where you can find some of these elusive creatures. I don’t trust when a cache shows a Jeep in it’s inventory unless I see that it was just placed there. Even then, I’ve seen them go “poof” only hours after being dropped into a cache.

Traded was a bad choice of words. I should have used the word swap. Then again they mean the same thing. Tami is going to kill me for bringing their names into this.

I wish I could learn to keep my big fat fingers quiet.

Anyway, at least you know of a cache where you are almost guaranteed to discover some cool Jeeps. I’d much rather see them in the Hotel than sitting on a table at an event.
