Although there are nine people on the board of directors and potentially nine different opinions, we are all working towards the same goal.  I personally really like when being in a small group that there are differing opinions because that opens one’s mind to possibilities that one may not considered prior to discussion.  Having been in a rhetoric class long ago, I really enjoy talking to people with differing opinions and opening my mind to other solutions.

I have had a lot of experience working with others to accomplish tasks.  One of my experiences has been being on multidisciplinary teams in the hospital and having to care for critically ill patients.

MavWitt does have very good ideas.  There are a lot of times that people may want to get involved, but they may not know how to go about it.  People don’t know prior to volunteering if their skills are wanted, needed, or will be appreciated.  Having an active social media presence is an important factor that I consider when deciding to participate in a group.  Polls are a good way to allow people to respond or not respond depending on their interest level, time, or ability to participate.  Active engagement on social media even if it is asking questions as simple as “What was the coolest virtual geocache you’ve found and why?” is a great way to engage followers.

I am very passionate about protecting our wild spaces.  Proper respect for our wild spaces will insure our continued use and enjoyment for generations to come.

When I find a hobby that I love, I like to be involved in many aspects of that hobby.  Sometimes I can become overcommitted on projects.  Being on the board will help narrow my focus to the priorities of the hobby.

I have been interested in being on the WGA BOD for the last year or two; however, I didn’t think I’d ever get the two nominations required to run for the board.  I was surprised that people thought I was deserving of  the nominations.  I decided to accept the nominations and run for the board because I am looking to reduce my work obligations and spend my time meeting more people across the state in this hobby that I love.

    Hello, Jen920.

What skills do I have that would be useful? Even though I will be new, I hope to bring an open mind.  I hope to bring creativity and a way to think differently about things.  I like to think that although my field requires being very detail-oriented, I can also look at the big picture.  I do feel that I do well being diplomatic having had to work with strong personalities in the medical field.  Thanks for the question.
