I agree!!!! I don’t own my own hunting land. I rely on public hunting land and the generosity of some local farmers to use their land. The dnr has provided me with some excellent hunting grounds as well as a lot of areas to geocache in.

It makes me wonder how much of the DNR budget actually comes from licensing and permit fees? Although it’s easy to complain about having to pay any fee, I don’t know of anyone that has stopped hunting, fishing, or going to parks because of the fee…..Would it not make more sense to raise the fees & keeping the places open, despite maybe loosing a few of the more frugal people?
I’m not sure if anyone knows but the money collected by the DNR goes to the states general budget and in turn they give back SOME of it to the DNR for their budget. The reason the DNR is cutting budgets is the state is using the money for other things.
in a recent local newspaper article it talked about harvesting the salmon eggs and that the excess dead fish and excess eggs are sold and the money goes to the general budget NOT the DNR. The problem is the state is funneling license fees to other uses because Doyle said he wouldn’t raise TAXES, just license plate fees and DNR fees. With Abby (my 5yo), the goal is to try and find
caches that are in/near parks. We trade off and she can play before/after we find the cache. And if the terrain is a bit over her, mom will sometimes play with Abby while Dad hunts. We havn’t done this a ton (yet), but we did discover new parks in Appleton, Oshkosh and even our hometown (Green Bay/Depere).
I can’t find the email I sent explaining mine so I’ll have to type it anyway. right after getting my gps I took my children out geocaching. we were in the woods and going in circles when my daughter piped up “I think were lost” to which I replied “no were not lost”, to which she replied “I think we are”, and finally I said “Really we’re not lost, the gps tells us were we are”. Right after that we found the cache and I hadn’t picked a handle yet, so I used “really i’m not lost”. as for my daughter “Can’t sit still” she is 9 years old, need I say more? and my son just came up with “along for the ride” as we only had one gps and I can on occasion be a gps hog (it is my gps).

let me refraise that to ” A day without getting game is better than a good day at work”

I would still wear an orange hat and shirt or jacket or vest, as the edge of non-hunting parks border private land which may be huntable. I would think that it is actually pretty safe in most places including hunting areas as long as you have a orange jacket or vest on. Fur jackets, brown or white would be poor choices to wear (unless the life ins is paid up ) Many hunters have had to take a safety course (if born after 1973) to get a license and in general are very safety conscious group. 500,000 hunters and 2 or 3 accidents a year and that is just the deer gun hunters.

Way to go! You’re a bit nuts with your highly organized file and whether you work or how you keep your house cleaned is beyond us due to all the caching (have you even hit your one year mark?), but we congratulate you! We have enjoyed caching with you in the past and hope to again someday. See you on the trails!
I was playing devil’s advocate when I SARCASTICALLY questioned team logs. I didn’t think people were actually doing the divide and conquer!?!? WOW. I don’t want to know and won’t be trying to find out.
we CHOOSE to have separate logins in my household and sometimes it would be nice to have a family log instead ( two members of my household are under 12 and aren’t officially WGA members) up until recently the other three in my household never went without me, but I went alone quite often. we also had only one GPSr.(just got a extra yellow etrex) lets just continue to have fun and not worry about it.
“A bad day of hunting is better than a good day at work”Somehow my post for 400 didn’t get posted, so I’m posting again for the next centennial. I watched your numbers go quickly. By now, you’re probably at 600. Impressive!
Since Uncle Fun was within a teen of caches from us, we wondered what in the world he was doing!!! That’s a heck of a lot of caches! We’re no longer neck and neck. Apparently, the arm is needed for work (wouldn’t work with my job). Congrats!
Well, to anyone who plans this one:
Most of the fun is the prep. Make sure to solve it ahead of time. I hope to add a ‘verification’ to the page at some point, but will answer things in email if requested. We’re replying pretty late. You’re probably at 500 by now You must have to drive kind’a far to find anything now. ‘Hope you get good gas mileage. 😛
Congrats! Have fun winter caching! We do.
Thank you, that’s helpful.
We’re seeing the Palm Pilot IIIxe for a good price, but it doesn’t seem to list our operating system (Windows XP). Would we have a problem?
Thanks for the site. That should get up and running when we have a PDA in hand.
Until then, are there system requirements we’re looking for? Is there a memory amount? Are there models that we should avoid? We know that certain pieces of technology are just not as good.
