Thank you to all the Thread Stealers (and other cachers) who came to my event! It was nice to see everyone and I am glad that many of you got to enjoy caching on a beautiful day. I even got to find a cache I am close to almost every day, but never can seem to remember to make the effort to find. Some clothes were “stolen” and the remainder will be donated. Thanks for making my first event a breeze! 🙂
I eat bring my own lunch to work and eat my own meals at home at most days, for economic reasons primarily. Home cooked may mean with the assistance of processed foods, although I can manage actual cooking when I plan for it. Eating out is mostly for the convenience of it when traveling, caching, or having an extra busy day.
Sad to hear of this. I never met either cacher, but it seems they touched the lives of many.
Amita17: The location of ‘Quick View’, ‘Recently Viewed Caches’ and Find Another Player’ have not changed for me. When signed into gc.com, click on your ‘caching name’ on the upper right to ‘View Your Profile’. Once on the “Your Profile’ page, you’ll find the ‘Quick View’ link at the upper left. Once in ‘Quick View’, ‘Recently Viewed Caches’ sits one or two sections directly below, under “Your Profile’. ‘Find Another Player’ sits down the right-hand side, in the ‘Community Section’.
Thank you igNma, very helpful! 🙂
Debby, I was so happy to see that “old search” link. Not sure about your other questions, although I’ve sen stuff about a drop down menu in the upper right next to your caching name. Maybe that’s where they went? Why, I still do not understand. I thought everything was just fine before. I must be getting old, crotchety and resistant to change. Except I just got home from my first day at my new job completely different from what I did for 30 years. so…maybe old and crotchety fit, but I embrace most change. Just not the gc ones!
amita17 click on your name in upper right corner, is this what you r looking for?
The drop down menu was no help, other than showing me I could change my time zone setting. I am happy to have to have the old search option, but will miss the other features. I don’t mind change with a purpose, but change just to change, when it affects so many, without input, isn’t right. I suppose they had a reason. Change should make things more clear and more efficient, not less so. Anyway, thanks for trying to help.
Posting here given it was mentioned earlier and many who may know frequent this thread: I see on geocaching.com that there is a button for Take me to the old search. This is nice. Is it a permanent feature? Also, am I missing where the “quick view” is? I used it to see recently viewed caches and also the Find a geocacher feature. I checked their forums and none of the topics seemed to be what I am wondering about. Thanks.
I am local and can help in some way. I am not sure what kind of help you need, planning or day of, but if I can assist, I am willing.
I will be reading Gone With The Wind on the plane, in case anyone’s interested. I resisted the urge
Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn. I didn’t resist the urge. Yeah, I know, movie, not book. Safe journey.
Welcome to the Badger State! I don’t get to Madison much but may see you at an event. Hopefully the snow will be gone by your move.
Welcome back! We had met at the Adopt-a-Highway CITO and I believe I have done a cache or two of yours. Enjoy the fun!
I think the alligator ate Becca’s avatar.
It is one of those optical illusions. Does anyone else see it? It is in one of the photos that rotate through the WGA banner at the top of the homepage–the photo of a pond with white rocks in the foreground. The “alligator” is disproportionately large, on the right. He looks like he just ate something.
Pi divided by 5000 is 6.283185307 E -4…those pieces of pie are way too small.
5000 plus pi = 5003.141593… and it goes on and on.
Since you added pi (and pie-congrats on the prize!) to your 5000 finds, may your smileys go on and on!
What was the question? Oh yeah, how amazing is it that CodeJunkie solved 1000 puzzle caches? The answer, beyond amazing! Way to go, CJ!
What a great place for milestone 4000! I looked at the photos posted by some in the group–very cool! How nice to share the occasion with 20 or so of your closest geofriends! Congrats 🙂
Becky, where do you find your avatars? I always liked the sparkly ones, and now you have really cute ones too.
