It is rare that a thread makes it to multiple pages between the times I log in. At first I thought this was an old thread. I guess when you have thread stealers fame (or are just really nice cachers) people hurry to congratulate you. 2000-Way to go Pat and Mark! 😀
When I first started caching, I didn’t log the DNFs because I thought I was just that terrible at caching. There are days I still feel that way. But many a cache owner shared the importance of logging the DNF (like they have above) and now I log them. Sometimes the story of the DNF is way more interesting than the story of the find. And on occasion the cache actually was missing, so the owner found out and could replace it. I would do like others have said, say how long you looked and why you stopped. That helps determine if a maintenance visit is needed.
Welcome Kate, Tim, and family! Geocaching is a hobby that can change with your family. You can find kid-friendly caches, go to events with family activities, and get caching tips from other cachers who cache with their children. It’s great that you are fostering a love for the outdoors by making family time a priority. Have fun 🙂
If you are going to go all that way, might as well make a milestone cache a unique one! Congrats!!
Congratulations on 1500! 🙂
Congratulations on a big milestone on a great day for caching!
Thank you for harvesting the organs and caring for the neglected! This challenge suits you. Way to go 😀
Congratulations Kim and John! Another fabulous milestone!
A milestone and a FTF…you cache dog, you! Way to go!
Congratulations on your milestone! It wasn’t long ago I visited that interesting site. A fine choice for 1300! 🙂

What if the WBCB committee chose not to put out new caches, would you not go to the event at all, or would your focus change?
I would still go, get some of the existing caches, and do whatever the focus of the event would then be. When WBCB first happened, I was new to geocaching and didn’t know anyone, so it was all about finding caches. Now it is still about finding caches, but also about doing as much of the weekend as I am able. So many things with the WBCB, you can focus on caches, you can socialize, you can do the bingo, the contests, the pancake breakfast, Friday night event, Sat. night event…or try to do it all like I do (and fail, but what fun to try!).

What differences do you see within the Garmin line on their ability in the deep woods? I’ll lead off by saying that my ancient Etrex Legend was always better than my Oregon 300. There is/was a clear difference. (Oregon died.)
I use an Etrex Legend and have very poor performance in deep woods. I don’t use any other kind, so I have nothing to compare it to firsthand. But people I have cached with who use other units never lose reception. If you know how you keep your signal on the Legend, let me know.
How apt to visit Chicago on a windy day, and get a cache that not many have gotten. Nice to make a milestone out of some of your favorite kinds of caches. Congrats! 🙂
Congratulations on 2000, Cindy! I haven’t seen you since the toga flash mob. You have been busy. This looks like a great cache for a milestone. On to 3K!
I’ll be nice and just say Happy Birthday 🙂
