I don’t usually pick on poster’s grammar and spelling, but “very diminutive”? Is this a computer generated post??
Glad you could finally get in. Good luck with 500 and beyond!
I had a lot on me one time but they came off pretty easily, I just pulled them off. But maybe take a wide piece of tape, like packing tape or duct tape, and press it on and lift it? Then do this in succession up or down the pants leg until they are off. It’s not a very outdoorsy trick, just what I thought of as I read your post.
Another milestone and a continued caching streak…that’s dedication! Happy to have joined you for a few along the way. Inspirational! 🙂
I signed up in September 2007, but spent almost 11 months in geo-utero before I began officially finding and logging caches.
Way to go Jacob! I remember the day you were trying to get certified, you were going to come caching with your mom and I but the diving class was not something easily changed. What a skill to have! It sounds like you had a great first diving-caching experience. I know they have rain-resistant paper, but underwater pens? Very cool to see the jellyfish and you got to have father-son time too. Congrats 😎
My co-worker’s sister-in-law works in some capacity for the IAT and through e-mail forwards, this is the response I got:
We love to have kids at our work days. Have her call brad crary from my office at 608-798-4453 if there are any questions. He would have the answers to any questions!
Rebecca Hidebrandt
But given Mister Greenthumb’s response, since he has been there, that is firsthand knowledge. Maybe call and find out specifically what is being done and where. I don’t know your children’s age and maturity level. Maybe there is work they can do, or maybe for safety sake it would not be a good idea.
I read the log just to see where these numeric adventures had taken you…and it is practically on my way home! For some reason rapids had me thinking the northwoods. Nice when a memorable cache can be almost in your backyard. Congrats!

Wait until the Beta map is completely loaded before clicking on Back to Original Maps.
I think this must be it, thanks! I do get the right map sometimes, just not most of the time. I will have to exercise a little patience from now on!
Remind me next year. I am sure I will go back to being self-involved by then.

The food request is coming from people who are working at the event .. had to juggle volunteers to cover so we could leave to eat ..
I have been involved with events where “runners” would go out for those who could not get away. If that interests you it might be able to be arranged.
I had not thought of this. I would be happy to make a food run for volunteers. I will try to remember to ask next year, or someone can just ask me then.

BIG Kudos to the color maps of the cache locations given out at the event though. That was a very helpful simple item.
I wish I would have gotten one…I never saw one.
Yes, it is a simple thing. I was disappointed I didn’t get one, being a visual learner. I mentioned it to a cacher on the trail that they had the cache maps previous years, and was told they were at registration, you just had to pick one up. I must have been so focused on getting out there, I didn’t see them. When I went back, others must also have missed them, because the lady there mentioned maybe they could go in the bags next year. Once I had the map, planning my time was much easier.
And another very minor thing, the group photo. I thought the stage was too small an area for such a big group. There were people in the back several deep that would not even be seen. Maybe several photos could be taken there, or move it to a more open area?
Anyway, my biggest problems at the event were personal (car, health…)and the rain. I think it just keeps getting better every year. Thanks to all who made it great!

I actually thought way back, for whatever reason, that a huffinpuffin was a penguin. Boy did I get laughed at when I asked. I now know that it’s a bird!
You have taught me a lot about caching…and now you have taught me what a puffin is. I also thought it was a penguin! Maybe I learned that from you too! Oh well, I have been laughed at for much worse. At least we knew it was a bird.
It seems like I just posted for your last milestone, and here is another! You sure have the adventures, and now in all 72 counties. You and I spent much of our caching time in one county, and we haven’t even made a dent. Time for another road trip! I am happy to have been along for the ride and even navigated once or twice. Caching enhances all your travels…many more adventures await! 🙂
2000! A ton of caches found! An interesting milestone cache, for sure. Now I will be looking for those names. Happy caching!
