Hey there! You will find many people on the forums who cache with their families. It is what you make of it. Have fun exploring!
Welcome Tom, hopefully you can get back to your home area soon. These forums are good for information, entertainment, advice, and are a good way to network before and after social events. Enjoy wherever caching takes you!
Welcome! You already have found this to be a family-friendly activity. It is what you make it. You will also find these forums to be helpful, humorous, or informative, depending on what you are seeking. Enjoy your family caching time!
I had my Garmin e-Trex only a few months and had the vertical line problem…I checked out the GC.com forums and found out all I needed was an update. It was very simple and took only a few minutes. You probably already considered that, but if not, I hope that is all you need to get it back to working order.
Hello! It’s always nice to have friends in high places, or in this case, geocachers who work for the Parks Dept. I’m sure you find this to be your new obsession. Have fun!
Glad you could join us! I find if I am not very active in caching that the urge keeps resurfacing…kind of addicting in that way. Have fun enjoying nature and time with your son and all the adventures along the way!

You can tolerate a wide range of relatives at Thanksgiving dinner because you’re all related. Some you’ll see throughout the year, others not. But you all like turkey and pie.
I love this quote! 😆 And it applies to more than geocachers. Thanks for the smile!
Congrats! Love the story. Cachers are great, yep. And hey, you had better slow down a little, if you want to make 1000 in West Bend!

I thought I would head southwest of Menasha, towards Berlin …
Berlin sounds like an awesome choice to me, but for some reason it’s just smileys and stars on my map. 😆 😆 😆
Shameless plug(s)
Mascoutin Valley Trail Series + others on the MVT (I think about 15 caches total now).
Nepeuskun Series (Rushlake – 7 total and some are on / near the MVT.
Waushara County Series (Redgranite / Wautoma / Pine River – ?? total)
Plus many other non-Series in the area.Actually, both of the MVTs you list came up in conversation. They are initially what made me think of heading that way. I think they came up as recommended caches in the forums and happened to stick in my memory from so long ago. Thanks for the tip!

This was mentioned after the last update–the map on the cache page. Used to be you could click it and it would show nearby caches. Then after the update, you could right click and open in new tab or window. Now you can’t do either. I have clicked on nearby caches, but it shows them as a list. Anyone know the easy way to view them on a map?
Under the map section to the left of the actual map, pick the “Geocaching.com Google Map” option and you’ll get the same functionality as before. I liked clicking the map better, but I also noticed the additional WP’s are now displayed on this map as well. Here’s an example: Mascoutin Valley Trail – Mile Marker #5
Thank you!! I’m glad I asked.

Your reputation precedes you. Your name came up on a recent cache outing as “There’s someone in the Valley who caches without a GPS.” “Isn’t that Muggle B?” It came up because we were struggling finding a cache with our high tech satellite receiving thingamajigs, and you had found 100 already without one. I have only found one cache without one, and that is because I knew one was there, and there weren’t many spots to put a cache. So hey, maybe you have found your niche. You might consider a base model as a back up, if you can’t find the cache without it. Welcome to all the craziness!
Welcome! Lots of caches and events in your area to keep you busy. Check in here for help, conversation, or networking. Have fun!

People in Wisconsin can’t say ‘bagel’, apparently.
I’ve always pronounced it just like it sounds here by clicking the the little speaker icon.
BagelFunny this particular word came up. I also pronounce it with the long a, as in the link by CodeJunkie. I work with someone who pronounces this word with the short a, like in the word “that”. She has lived in Wisconsin her whole life, but did go to college in Madison, where the students are from all over, so perhaps heard it another way from a fellow student from the northeast? I also remember my first grade teacher telling us that the word “bag” is with the short a, when we thought it was the long a. My dictionary lists both, and when I say it both ways, it sounds the same. However, my dictionary lists “bagel” with the long a only.
I posted my Will Attend on the cache page some months ago, but do I need to do something through the Chamber of Commerce to actually register for this event? Or is there anything else I need to do? I know the first year I signed up through the Chamber, but perhaps things were done differently then.
