La Crosse is a neat area to cache. I attended a local chamber event there a couple years ago in the fall, so keep an eye out for it. We’re glad to have you in the WGA. I have a friend who is like your husband…agreeable but not addicted. Persistence may pay off. Hang in there and keep having fun!

Congrats, HP2! That’s a bunch of points! 😀
Maybe we should start a “Lonely Cacher Game” and find gotta run and some other AWOL cachers that have been out of the mix for awhile. 8)
Funny you should mention that. I often wonder what became of cachers/owners that I don’t see their caches/posts anymore. Such is the nature of the game and life, I suppose. Other priorites come along, people lose interest, they move away…it would be hard to keep track of everyone. 🙁
I signed up in the spring of 2007 but didn’t actually go caching until the fall of 2008. A slow start, but then I became a more frequent cacher. Still, I am what I consider a casual cacher, randomly selecting my targets and easily sidetracked by the weather or other priorities. Timeline-wise, I missed the early days of geocaching, but yet I cache the old-fashioned way. And with many new members joining all the time, I feel old. Still so much to learn, so I feel new. And seeing how the sport is evolving, I once again find myself on the old end of it.
Talk about walking the fence, huh? I prefer to think of myself as beyond definition. 🙂
Does this policy affect plans for Cache Ba$h caches? Also I am curious if it affects caches already in place…would some need to be moved or archived? Were the reasons for implementing the policy taking preventive measures, or was it due to problems with disrespectful cachers or negligent owners?

I like what Holiday does with their pricing. The 16K price is what other dealerships might sell it for. The 12K price is their bottom line. No haggling. Any trade in is additional. It’s a nice feeling to know exactly what they’ll take and not waste time saving arguing about a couple of grand.
Good to know! I have a Saturn and that is how they did their pricing. Sadly, Saturn is ending its production and the dealerships have converted over to other GM brands (at least here in the Valley). I hated having to sit through the process “Let me check with my manager.” etc. Like we both don’t know what’s happening. If other dealerships have this no haggle system, I would be interested in knowing which ones.
Found it while looking for other Roche-a-Cri caches. The GC code is GC29P5H
Does anyone know the GC number for this event? The WGA page says its registration link is not working and to register on GC.com. Several keyword searches have not led me to the page. Thanks.
Please forgive me if this seems like an overly simplistic suggestion, but I haven’t done any earthcaches. Actually, I don’t know why it wouldn’t work for regular caches either.
Why can’t someone, anyone who is willing, simply resubmit the previous cache page under their own cache name, taking on the responsibility of ownership? Maybe change it slightly if they feel necessary, but keep the spirit of the earthcache. I know sometimes when regular caches are archived, another cacher will place a cache in the same spot, or close by, simply because it is a good location. And isn’t that the appeal of the earthcache–what the location has to offer?
Am I missing the obvious reason why not? Sorry if it seems naive to ask, but I figure these forums are the best place to ask questions of more experienced cachers.
My first one I didn’t find when I first looked, I had probably less than 10 finds at the time. Another one close by was also a lamp skirt cache, didn’t know, and moved on. Then when I was more experienced, I tried the first one again, logged the DNF, and went on. One day when I was with a group, we went back to both caches. There were plenty of nearby possibilities, as neither was in the middle of a lot. One of the people in the group suggested the lamp skirt, and I was like, what? And then I found it. So when we got to the second one, it was an easy find. Makes me wonder how many of my DNFs are types of caches I have never seen.
Geocaching can be family-friendly when you consider location, terrain, and your children’s schedules, personalities, and interest level. The bigger events are also making the effort to include activities for all ages. Some older children even hide caches. It’s nice to get the whole family involved. Have fun caching!
GC.com isn’t down, but this is the closest thing to topic I could find. Just a question I wondered if anyone else experienced it, or how to fix it. It does not affect my use of the site at all.
At the top of the home page are the photos of cachers. I have enjoyed seeing them and reading the photo titles. But for a couple weeks, when I mouse over the pictures, one doesn’t give me a caption and the other just says Generic Small Banner. This happens before I log in and after.
So yeah, not at all important in the grand scheme of problems people have with the site. Just a little quirk that appeared suddenly and hasn’t gone away. I just liked reading the captions with the photos.
Glad to see you are still geocaching in retirement. Some folks I know say life actually gets busier then. Stay busy caching and be the envy of the rest of us! 😆 Congrats!
I clicked the links just to see where these were. Sittin and thinkin was the only virtual I have done. It was at a campground I went to a lot as a child. Now I will just have to sit and think about my fond memories of long ago, and of when I did the cache… 🙁 well, maybe someone local can place new caches there.
Great milestones! Glad I could share in your latest. Keep the smiley streak going 🙂 🙂 🙂
Welcome to our group! This is a fun hobby/sport/addiction…whatever level you cache at. You will find folks here to be helpful if you have questions. Keep on cachin’ 🙂
