I’d like to go, but I am still waiting to hear details of a possible family obligation. I will read the cache page and the logs and keep my eye on this thread for more information. I’ll post a definite yes if that is the case.

I looked in four places, but I finally got it. Pretty typical of a cache outing for me.

Yes, I am a little biased in recommending this series too. But it does offer kid friendly caches, a serious cardio workout, beautiful scenery (and a bit more wildlife in other seasons), and a good opportunity to learn about naturalists and their contributions to our surroundings. Even if you are not a fan of puzzles, they are typically pretty basic and offer a check option. I’d rocommend snowshoes now if you have them, but I went out without them and it wasn’t too bad. Thanks seldom|seen for coordinating this whole thing from permisson to placement! I am honored to be a part of it.

This archived cache still has 33 watchers…I wonder how many of the watchers have dropped out of geocaching since then? GCHZKB

Now that I know how to watch a cache, I had to see what 33 people think is worth watching. I suspect you are right, that many of them are not active anymore, or changed e-mails, plus you wouldn’t get any notices anyway. Did the owner of the cache do something wrong, forcing it to be archived? It seems like many people had great caching milestones here, although some had bad experiences. It seems like the owner maybe was frustrated with other cachers? I didn’t geocache back then and it isn’t in my area, so maybe things have changed since then.

There is GC16W5J (Oasis) in Menasha, but recent logs suggest it has been muggled.

My brother found someone on the list with the same name. It is not a common name. The address was less than a mile from where he lives. I told him to look into it anyway–it is possible they got the address wrong and he may have a claim.

In 2010, I hope to find a balance between getting out more in winter–maybe even getting some snowshoes–and enjoying a break of sorts, doing puzzles and learning more about geocaching. I look forward to attending events big and small. I expect to be a responsible cache owner for my newly adopted cache and hopefully I can place some caches this year.

2009 saw me slowly getting more into geocaching. I attended a puzzle workshop, the campout at High Cliff, the West Bend Cache Ba$h, a flash mob, and several small gatherings besides. I hit three milestones and learned for the most part a milestone is just another number. An event I don’t care to repeat was my first truly bad caching experience–losing my car key 3 hours from home on a weekend night. Never did find it. In 2009 I got to go along hiding caches, and just this morning, adopted my own cache. I had my first FTF in 2009, and my second came today. I cached alone for the most part, but sometimes with others–even my mom wanted to go along once and see what it was all about. I may even be cultivating an interest in geocaching for someone who currently doesn’t cache. 2009 wasn’t a great year for me in other respects, but it was pretty good for caching!

Glad you could join us. Caching is a great pastime and flexible to how you like to cache. You can find out about great destinations, areas to get lots of numbers, how to solve puzzles, events to attend… you won’t be bored and you may even make some friends in the process. Enjoy!

I don’t get kickbacks from Cabelas or Atlas but they have a huge deal on them right now. Will also add that they are made in the USA!

Read the reviews there. They are only $10 more than the Yukon Charlies( thou there is nothing wrong Charlies) If I had the extra money,I’d buy another pair)

Thanks for the responses. I checked it out and it seems like a good deal…then I checked on shipping charges. Something like $14.95 to ship. Does that seem right? I haven’t ordered by mail in years, but that seems like a lot. And they base it on the total of your order. Why not on the weight?

Go to the main page of Cabela’s website. There is a scrolling thing and one of the items is a $20 off on orders over $100. I did this a few weeks ago and they emailed me the e-coupon. This pays for the shipping and saves you another $5 (20 – 14.95).

Thanks again! I did find the coupon and how to get the rebate code. I am still debating the entire purchase, but I can’t wait too long. If I do get them, I post how I like them.

I am wondering about snowshoes labeled as Womens, vs snowshoes that aren’t specifically mens or womens. What makes them “women’s”? I have been searching websites of sporting goods places and prices vary quite a bit. Some places have womens styles at a slightly less cost than those called mens or those without a gender label. Would a smaller woman have difficulty maneuvering mens snowshoes?

                                  am I watching YOUR cache? 😈 😉

Now I have that song in my head “I always feel like, somebody’s watching me.” Thanks, self, for the earworm! 😆
