Hi from Menasha. Welcome to the WGA!
I don’t have satellite or cable either and have also experienced this, but I hear from others that even with digital they occasionally have this problem. Other than splurging for a top of the line antenna and adjusting it periodically, I don’t have any answers. I had to beg a techno-savvy friend to hook my DVD/VCR up to it today. I had managed the converter box connection but was lost to AV hookups. That’s partly why I read the Tech Talk forum–to absorb fellow geocachers tech knowledge. If no one has a solution for you other than a better antenna, I would suggest talking with a store clerk where they sell the TVs and accessories. I have been to three and all the staff were very helpful.
Interesting! Is an altered book kind of like scrapbooking, only reusing books instead of paper that is inserted into scrapbooks? I started scrapbooking a couple years ago and enjoy it, but it can be expensive. With my basic GPSr, computer access, and gas in the car, geocaching is something I can afford to do more often. Thanks for sharing your crafty ideas!
😮 Not the usual kind of announcement in this forum! Congrats! 😀
Welcome Sara, I’m new as well. Enjoy the quests!

I’m still fairly new to this. I don’t think I have a cache page, and if I do, I don’t know how to find it. And if I did, I wouldn’t know how to add the logo to it. I voted no opinion, though, because I don’t think I have a cache page.
Don’t know if anyone answered amita17’s question personally, but a cache page is what the write-up is for each individual cache. It’s where cache placers can write what they want about a cache they have placed for others to find, and they may place photos and links on this page in addition to any description. You have no doubt read lots of cache pages when you have looked up caches to find.
Use of the WGA logo requires that html code be used, and that takes some getting used to. We did it by trial and error, but there is lots of help here, and it wasn’t too hard to do. Adding the logo was the easy part because all the coding is right there (on the Wiki page) to copy and paste.
So, if you have placed a cache, you have written up a cache page. Some people have included the logo, some have not. Clicking on the link on the cache page sends people to the WGA site, where they will hopefully find what they like there. 🙂
Thanks, sandlanders. I have not placed any caches. I have some ideas, but I think I need to do a lot more searching, or rather, finding, before I try hiding. I don’t know a thing about html, so if I do place a cache, I suspect I won’t include the logo unless it is made very easy for me to do so.

I took a zumba class at a health club for a few weeks. Lots of fun and a pretty good workout. Having a great instructor helps, and also going with someone to keep you motivated.
Yes. I would attend if I were able to, but probably more to gain insight into solving them. I attended one of Marc’s pizza and puzzle events, and it was helpful. Still, I am new at this and need all the help I can get.
Welcome! I also live in Menasha, and am also a rookie. So many caches close to home, you won’t be bored. Is your wife also involved in geocaching? If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, as the saying goes. The forums are a lot of help, attend events as you are able, and get out there when you can!
I’ll guess 8/23/09.
I will bring two things I remember fondly from my childhood: marinated tomato/onion/cucumber salad, and a game called lawn jarts (anyone remember those? I think they stopped making them because they had sharp points.)
I stumbled upon geocaching reading an article about it, and then forgot about it until I saw a workshop on getting started. Then it was a matter of buying the GPSr and getting out there. Unfortunately, no one in my current circle of friends is interested or has the time to join in the fun, but I am finding a whole new set of folks devoted to the sport online, and even discovering people I know who already cache. It gets me outside a little more, and I am not real outdoorsy. And I am learning more about technology, sometimes by necessity. I enjoy the search itself, and even solving puzzles. I spend more time on the computer than I would like, reading these forums and finding my next caching targets. And since I am not one to brave the elements, I do find myself missing it now that we are below zero. Usually my hobbies wax and wane, but geocaching is something I think about every day.
I have noticed the same problem and also thought it was due to my low-speed connection. I just log off and log on again, and the problem is solved…until it happens again. 🙂
Welcome! I’m fairly new to this myself. You can learn a lot by reading the forums. Have fun!
