Deet did not help Trekkin’. He is a three time survivor of Lyme, and is hoping to end it there. I have seen a book on alternative approaches, and wonder if it has anything to say as to why some people attract them.
This last bout last summer about killed him.Not fun. If he gets it again, I’d say our caching days will be over for good.
I have seen very few ticks in parking lots ๐

Glad you enjoyed your first event! 8) We too had a great time meeting our cross-border neighbors and taking in a perfect winter day on the trail. There may have been more WGA members there than Minnesotans. Hopefully we’ll catch you again soon.
Some of those Minnesotans also belong to the WGA…
As a statewide event…the plan is to stop this Dec 31st…there still may be parks that may want to keep caches active…but, as a statewide thing, this program will end Dec 31st…it isn’t offical yet, but that is the talk from the state level…
“Hold my pole while sign this…Hold my paddle while I sign this…Grab my stick while I sign this…”
Man…I gotta cache over in Wisconsin more often…
They have not offically decided that yet…there is talk about going until the next program…currently, it is scheduled to end the 31st…but there may be parks that will keep the caches active until the next series…
Interesting Website…
As AstroD stated…pictures are good…but you can’t always get a good picture. I have found a couple that I just didn’t have a camera available…but in those cases, write down the number on the mark (most…ok most that I have found have a number). I may have a limited number (32 I think) and have verified them by number on the mark…I just don’t carry a camera (and no…the cellphone I have does not have a camera…but it does have a GPS!!!). Landmarks used as references can usually be easily ID’ed…watertowers, buildings….etc…but it is best to at least record the numbers on disks so you can verify what you actually found…
As far as the year 2000 goes…I have found several stamped 1999 that are not listed on the gc.com database…
As far as dumb-luck…yep, that is the case some times!!! I have one nearby that I have been trying to find for a while…marker post is present…just couldn’t find the mark…a couple weeks ago…I finally found the disk!!!
If you have problems with a cache moving often…I have had luck coming up with ways in which to “attach” the cache to the location. Would there be a way for that to happen in this case???

Just something to think about…of course not all locations will work this way…@LDove wrote:
Archer,
Off topic, but what happens when you drink a Red Bull and eat a sugar cookie??? ๐ฏ ? Just curious?
You end up like me……and you kind of look like ๐ฏ

Good or Bad…I will let you guys be the judge of that…How about something like this…of course you may need something a bit different (since you have No Tresspassing signs as well), but it is a sign I use on two of my caches!!!

Alright then, please give me three legitimate reasons why you have taken that stand.
1. Guards have been posted refers to Borders.
2. Maps showing the borders indicate a “friendly” turf battle.
3. Everyone is having fun with this.Clearly indicates this should be “Off-Topic” then!!! Not enough angst for a thread to be used in the General Forum!!!
๐If one has to hide behind a puppet account to post Needs Archived…then maybe one should not be posting them at all…
08/11/2008 at 7:17 pm in reply to: Reviewer question (?) Needs maintenance vs. Needs archive #1894311I have logged four “Needs Archived” Logs…
One on an event that was still “active” several months after it was over…
The other three on caches in which I know the containers were gone…and after I made several attempts to make contact with the cache owners (email and “Needs Maintenance” logs explaining the situation on the cache page)…
Once cache was destroyed by fire…one cache was retrieved by the cache owner with no intention of ever replacing the cache and the other was a cache illegally placed on a USPS Mail Drop-Boxรขโฌยฆ

I was trying to use the wap website on my cell phone and tried to search for a cache in the area I was in. I didn’t know the zip code so I wanted to search by entering the Coordinates. But… i couldn’t figure out how to enter Latitude (e.g. 47.12345) and Longitude (e.g. -122.12345).
What format is this? I tried a couple different formats on my GPSr, but with so many to choose from, I couldn’t figure it out.
Thanks
Dave (logsam)44.12345 & -122.12345
Positive Numbers are used for North/East…while Negative Numbers are used for South/West…thus, in this case we have North and West…Also note…there are 60 Seconds in 1 Minute…60 Minutes in 1 Degree
Degrees (dd.ddddd)
N44.12345 Degrees & W122.12345Degrees & Minutes (dd mm.mmm – the “default” on gc.com)
N44 Degrees 07.407 Minutes & W122 Degrees 07.407 MinutesDegrees & Minutes & Seconds (dd mm ss.sss)
N44 Degrees 07 Minutes 24.42 Seconds & W122 Degrees 07 Minutes 24.42 SecondsI don’t know if I actually helped answer any question…but I tried…maybe too much info… ๐ณ
Oh, I always trust my GPSr to help (and I stress help) know where I am…but it is always up to me to know where I am going!!! I think geocachers know very well that not every “road” listed on a GPSr is an actual road…
