Okay… that one’s really strange. What did the sign originally say? And does the toad play it well?

Ah, don’t you just love the Internet? According to the Wisconsin Counties Association, Menominee is indeed a county, complete with a county seat. Info here
cap kal,
I would vote that to qualify for the state cache, a cacher would need to either find at least one cache in each county, or have hidden a cache in a county.
I don’t believe that we need to worry about a bunch of moderate to poor caches suddenly poping up all over as a result of my suggestion, it is obviously easier to go find an existing cache in any given county than to go hide one just to qualify.
Comments?
LeeLansinger has offered their video editing/production services to help us out. If we work with them and some area cachers, we could probably easily produce enough footage that LeeLansinger could create 2 or 3 different versions of a promotional video. One that focuses on environmentalism, one that focuses on health/sports, one that focuses on tourism/recreation, one on family/social aspects. Then we could take Steve’s idea and just deliver the tape best suited for each person/organization.
We could develop rough scrips for each version, then do all the taping at once. Really, the only difference between each version would be what questions/topics were included in each final version.
Any comments?
Wow! This looks like fun, thanks Team Cachebarr!

Personally, I’d cast my vote in favor of allowing virtuals, but not in favor of a locationless that the hunnter happened to fulfill in a given county.
I’d use the criteria that for each cache they list as a find in a given county, when you go look at that cache’s page the co-ordinates MUST be located in that county.
My two cents worth, but its really up to whoever becomes the creator/owner of the ‘Statewide Cache’.
I’m going to throw this out for discussion
Is there anyone who is already planning on creating the ‘Statewide’ cache once there is a cache in every county? Or is there any interest in having WGA sponser/create that cache to recognize those that have found a cache in every Wisconsin county?

I contacted TMJ4 asking if we could post the segment onthe web site and here is their response, which was what I expected unfortunately.

We are doing a whirlwind trip out to PA for Arn’s parent’s 50th anniversary that weekend; leave Sat AM, party Sat evening, head back Sun AM. If we hit chicago at the right time on the way back, we’re going to drop in at the picnic.
What incredible odds of them crossing paths like that! Almost spooky…
Enjoyed the Geodawgs story, had some good laughs. A lot of work went into that. BTW, I heard that GB was picked up by the vice squad outside that truck stop
Fiebag? FieBAG!
No one’s called me that since high school!
Oh well, besides that, it was good!
Wish that some of the conversation about WGA had made it into the segment. But the WGA web site is listed on the TMJ links page!
You’re welcome. One other idea now that those changes were made. To kick start it again, you could edit the date it was hidden to reflect today’s changes. That would get the cache listed back on the ‘new cache’ listing.
We agree with Steve on the co-ordinate format. Many cachers would not even recognize a dotted decimal co-ordinate when they see it, and would probably just give up when they could not figure out how to enter it into their gpsr.
Also, at one point in leg two you swicth from dotted decimal to standard ‘deg min.mmm’ format for some reason, then switch back to dotted decimal in leg three. This could also cause confusion.
Standardizing on the geocaching ‘deg min.mmm’ format might get more people hunting your cache, which does look like its fun!
Good luck!
Alan & ArleneHey Cap Kal! Love your ‘Dead End’ idea, what a great new twist!
And thanks for covering a new county, we’re getting closer…
Sounds like a blast! We can’t commit 100% yet, but we really want to make it so we are trying to move a couple of things in our schedule around. We’ll let you know as we get a bit closer.
It will be great to see everyone again, thanks for putting this on!
