I bought S&T 2003 over the weekend at Sam’s Club.

Please post your tutorial, I’d sure appreciate it

Here is my list, Arlene may have a slightly different list…

      [*]Moscow, We Have A Problem
We arrived in Manitowoc around 7PM, checked into out hotel and had dinner. We had spent the day hitting caches along the lake front from the Illinois line north. As we pulled into town, we had gotten the answer to the first stage of this multi. As we finished dinner, we could see our target for the second stage in the darkness out the window of the resturant. We decided to take a moonlight stroll on that warm night out the breakwall to the navigation light and complete stage two. It was a wonderful night under the moon as we climbed up the light and just stared out into the lake.
      [*]Eagle Eye
I believe we set the record for finding the first stage, under 5 minutes from arriving at ground zero. I had been looking forward tothis method of hiding a cache from when we first started caching.
      [*]Rockin & Rolling on Gibraltar
The best view in all of Wisconsin (that we have seen so far)
      [*]WI Geo-Campout – Angel Dust
This link won’t provide any info on this cache as it was one of the temporary night caches at the WGA 2001 Geo-Campout. The hike down the glittering trail, the dimly blinking cache winking at you from under the brush, and WHAM/FLASH when you picked it up. What a blast!
      [*]Grant’s Tomb
      Beautiful park, and sneaker surfing!
      [*]Lake by a Lake
Another beautiful park; both the beauty of the flooded quarry and Lake Michigan
      [*]Ottawa Panarama
Beautiful view on the approach, neat final hiding spot, and a challenging find that gives a sense of accomplishment. So many folks have had trouble on this cache, reporting it missing, that we sort of became its volunteer guardians. We have made a number of trips to verify it was still present, but the most memorable was one night it had a few reported missing notes, so we headed out around 10:30PM and hunted it by moon light, spooking a boy scout troop camping near the cache. (Noticing a moonlight trend yet?)
      [*]A little bit of Paradise
One of the most scenic, gentle, refreshing parks we’ve found since moving to Wisconsin.
      [*]Training Camp
A fun challenge of compass work, reckoning, and searching and a most challenging method of hiding, especially if done during Fall.
      [*]Mr. Elver’s Cache
We had saved this for our 100th cache. A great multi that uses many methods to find each stage. A good hike to boot!
      [*]Root River Parkway
A halloween themed multi cache we hunted by moon light (there we go again!). One of the pirates used as a waypoint showed up at our house after the cache was closed down for our Christmas cache event.
      [/list]

in reply to: Geocaching Webring #1745258

On a daily basis, the webring checks each site on each ring for the navigation code. When you join a ring, you have to tell the ring where you are placing the ring navigation code (the next, previous, all, random etc. buttons).

Each day the ring checks to make sure that the code is where you told them it would be. A red thumbs down means that the ring does not see the code where it should be, and therefore considers that site to have broken the ring.

You have your navigation code in a frame side bar. Is that where it was when you joined the ring? The best thing is to go log into the ring, and use its ring checker. Or just manually update the location of the code.

That will get you back to a green thumbs up

You know, I’ve heard of women doing this…

Just because they think they are too old, they think they can cancel their birthdays…

Just because you want to cancel it, believe me, your birthday is still gonna happen

Seriously, Happy Birthday! Sorry you had to cancel the event…

Hey discboy! Welcome to WGA and to geocaching!!!

Give your post a day or two for responses, I’m sure a geocacher or two from the Madison area would be glad to give you a hand. Have fun and visit us often

in reply to: Letterbox Hybrids #1745252

Letterboxing is an interesting topic. Never done it, but have followed the threads a bit. While LB is primarily a British activity, it is still quite popular over here.

From what I’ve heard, LetterBoxers are somewhat of an eliet crowd, and frown on the rest of us a bit as amature putters. I’m sure that opinion is not universal, but I’ve heard that mentioning geocaching on one of their message boards can have a fun, explosive effect

As far as searching for them on geocaching.com, the only way to do this is with Jeremy’s Pocket Query feature which allows you to search by cache type (multi, virtual, letterbox hybrid etc.). This feature is only available to charter members however.

This story got me thinking that for the low cost and extreme light weight, this might be a very good item to toss into your caching pack:

Buried and with a metal detector… just great, just the kind of press geocaching needs.

But thanks for posting the article and bringing to our attention.

The first computer I owned at home (previously I used dialup timeshare (GE Mark IV) was a SWTPC 6800.

It ran at an impressive 1MHz, and came with 2KB (yes, K, not M) of memory. Additional memory could be built (only available as a kit) in 2KB chunks for $200 each. It maxed out at 32KB. My dad still has this system in his basement Ah, the memories!
