Maybe I’m the only one confused, but how do these challenges relate to geocaching?
I think I logged one virtual right after we started and it happened to be in one of my favorite cities. I know I’d like to see them back so a friend can enjoy more caching in SC (if legal stuff doesn’t apply to virtuals). You can’t tell me that making someone go to some kind of actual landmark isn’t better than my turning around and grabbing one of the million frog things I collect to post a picture of myself kissing it?! That’s caching how?! Because I have to log where I did it? I use the check in feature on Facebook. Do I get a smiley every time I go to Starbucks?
I’m at 199 caches. I didn’t realize changing my “will attend” to “attended” for last year’s and this year’s Bache would give me cache credits. A challenge just got me to 199. I don’t think my husband would forgive me if I log our next milestone from my computer desk; he was already skeptical about the attendance logs.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m going to do these when I’m extremely bored and need a break from studying if they stick around

first person to finish 100 challenges gets a free gun lock. (for those of you who were at West Bend you will understand)
😀
I’ve only hidden once cache and haven’t done this. I also don’t live in a cache heavy area. Obviously for GPX you can exclude your own caches in a PQ but if someone lives in a cache rich area like West Bend perhaps having those extra smilies on the screen of a Smartphone makes it easier to concentrate on other icons. I realize this saves all of 2 minutes but ya never know…
Follow up to this…we don’t have a chance for many FTFs as we’re usually working or in school when things are published. We would have been FTF on several event caches but they were found earlier in the morning. So I guess my opinion would be that it is more fun to wait for the event to start.
I also wouldn’t mind an earlier Friday start time. I realize that people have to drive in and set up, but its so rare for my husband to have off or have vacation time approved. As college students we also can’t afford to board our dogs (can West Bend make their parks dog friendly for a weekend? 😕 ) so we drove home to Janesville Friday evening and back again Saturday morning. We would have appreciated a few more hours Friday morning.
Maybe the kids could be in one photo and the adults in another?
I don’t entirely know how this would work but maybe the tables under the pavilion could be marked with cards with the names of WI counties on them or regions for people who don’t know very many cachers (I realize each table would have several cards). That way we could meet people in our area? They could be removed right around the turn in time.

BIG Kudos to the color maps of the cache locations given out at the event though. That was a very helpful simple item.
I wish I would have gotten one…I never saw one.
Would be a nice touch if this was put in the bags.
Last year I happened to see it and asked for one. This year I assumed they weren’t available until we saw one on the info. board later in the day.
I think it would have helped us plan a route using less gas since we’re familiar with the area.
I realize the local PDs were event sponsors but it was obnoxious to sit through so many trigger lock giveaways that one can get for free. Given the low chances of winning a cash prize I don’t know that we’ll stay next year for the raffles so the tickets don’t really matter.
Its a toss up between the book and sheet being separate or not. I was able to preserve our hints/coords in the book and at least know I’d get credit for my waterlogged sheet as opposed to potentially losing them both to the rain.
What was Saturday night’s dinner announcement?
Had a great time despite sliding on wet rocks Sunday going after one of the sports themed caches and busting the screen on our relatively new GPSmap 62s. After going strong Friday and Saturday morning we fell short by 26 caches (and 5 caches short of #200). 😥 Actually on the phone with Garmin atm with a 15-20 minute wait.
My favorite was the fishing cache because I was the only one who believed GZ was in the water and was willing to do the wading!
Once the GPS went down we hung around the park and had the opportunity to talk to a few people which was nice!
The 2011 WGA coins are really nice. Glad I was able to pick one up.
Thanks to the organizers/hiders. Can’t wait for next year. 😀
Also wasn’t something posted about groups being able to do the Wherigo? Will there be booths for these?
We’ve never done more than 27 caches logged at a time over a week of camping (and I was able to take notes on each individual cache since it was over the time period) and then we had 16 in a day at last year’s Ba$h (we only had a few hours) and 15 on my birthday. I realize that is very few compared to what some of you do in a day. For my birthday I was able to do more specific logs but what about the Cache Ba$h this weekend? Last year we ended up doing a few generics or semi-generic with just an extra comment about my inlaw’s first log or something cool at the cache. I know its supposed to be a fun experience and we’re going to try and make time to appreciate each cache but how do some of you handle days with lots of caches to log?

Like a good puzzle cache, I’d say to error on the side of “Respect the intent”. If it’s numbers you’d like, what about the rest of the caches in the area (unless you’ve found them all already). Just my opinion and certainly meant to generalize not single anyone out.
/facepalm Thanks for the suggestion. Of course we can go after the other caches in the area in the a.m.. I hadn’t thought of that. 😳
We’re from West Bend and the surrounding area but we’ve actually done next to nothing for caching there. We’re always running around for family obligations.
Thanks everyone for the input. I feel a little silly now!
