I for one LOVE cemeteries! I guess cause I was dragged around them since I was little (my mom is the family geneologist) finding markers, taking pictures and wondering who these people were and what kind of life they led.
What have I learned from all those years ago? That life is to be celebrated, history is to be learned and the dead should not be forgotten -even if they are not remotely related. To this day, I can get lost in time wandering around looking at the different markers, the metal flag holders, and such. Which is why I love Marc’s new series. It opens one’s eyes to look beyond the everyday, to wonder who, what and how.
I think as long as common sense prevails there is no reason not to have these types of caches.
Wow! What an incredible and fun road trip! THANK YOU so much for sharing it with all of us!
So..when’s the next one?????
So Marc, was there any thought of tying all these SO caches into a series final? I think it would be kind of cool.
I live in Mathatopia, commute through Space, so I can work in Selzzup. Do I get multiple citizenry?? 😀 😀
Housework sucks, I want to cache!

OK, cheeto, you have V.
Spots are still available. Will have to arrange to go out with you to plant yours, so it does not interfere with any of the others.
Just make sure Marc, you have ALL the coords for ALL the caches! Don’t want to put one literally on top of another. 😆
Just submitted SO: Stargate today. Just gotta get my photo uploaded to the cache page. GR!
I CAN solve puzzle caches. Sometimes!
I’ve listed a few on waymarking.com, it’s not all that difficult. It’s even easier if you are just logging a find that someone else has listed though. 😉
The requirements for listing a Benchmark are listed on this link below. Basically you just fill out a few questions, post coordinates, and upload some photos. If you decide to list a benchmark on waymarking.com just look at a few of the other bechmarks that are posted to get an idea of what information you need to include.

Since we are on benchmarks I found two the other day that are not listed on GC. We were doing the Match Head cache at the Racine Breakwater and on our way to the cache, once we started on the concrete portion of the breakwater we found them both, each about .10 miles from one another. Cant claim them as fnds but has anybody else discovered an unlisted benchmark? Or do you know how to get tehm listed so that they can be claimed?
GC.com only pulled the NGS records up to 1999 or something like that so not every benchmark will be in the GC.com database. And GC.com is not updating thir database nor has any intention to do si in the future.
So unlisted BM can be logged as waymarks. But I don’t know how that works.

I found this website that lists the oldest Benchmark in Wisconsin, it’s a chiseled square. Just click on Wisconsin on the map on this site to see the oldest benchmark and a few other notable marks in the state.
Holoscene has a great website and is used quite often by serious BM hunters. It’s nice as the stats page is updated monthly with the reports sent to the NGS.
