Because my husband doesn’t want you too?
Seriously,
A willingness to help the WGA.What distinguishes me from the other candidates? My DNA!
What can I offer the board and the members of the WGA?
I have experience serving on several different Boards in many different capacitites – as a Board member, as President and as the Chairperson of a seven state Region. I know the demands on time, resources, and family that serving on a Board can make and I am willing and able to accept them.
I can also list some of the same attributes as many of the other candidates: I am detail oriented, well organized, and dedicated to completing the task at hand. I am also a perfectionist and believe in doing things 110%.
I will tell you, that what I don’t know I seek to learn. What I don’t understand I ask questions to find out. I am unwavering in my beliefs, I don’t beleive in compromising my morals and trust is the one thing I value above all else.

Tough one. Some of the things I would like too see:
I would like to see the WGA grow in the number of active members from all across the state. Continued hosting of events throughout the state, WGA banners on cache pages etc.
I would like to see the WGA continue to work with the WDNR, local communities, and other organizations to promote geocaching as a positive activity for our state.
I would like the WGA to serve as role model for other organizations. Open forums where debate and discussions can take place, a board who supports its members despite outside pressure/influence(i.e. event logging), and a board that eagerly seeks the opinions/comments from its members on issues before making decisions.
I have to echo Greyhounders idea – a BIG party.

That is easy….it would have to be black!
It’s practical. Goes with everything, blends in, disguises the little flaws, doesn’t show the dirt as much, and heck, I look good in it.
Ammo Box – durable, strong, long lasting, blends in well so you don’t know its there and could be mistaken for something its not.
Traditional – there’s something to be said about staying with your roots.
Location and the hide if both are done correctly. I prefer the views over the hide.
Duh! GARMIN!!
Cachemate or Plucker – haven’t used either so no comment. GSAK rocks though!
Laverne or Shirley? Never watched the show….
Lenny or Squiggy – same as above
Not – DNFs to me means accepting failure. I do not accept failure.
Single or multi – Both, as long as I’m going somewhere neat.
Virtuals – always willing to learn more!
NOT log event temps – events are not about the caches..they’re about the people. One event, one smily.
Why Not? (After all, it’s only illegal if you get caught). I’ve always questioned authority. I don’t believe in blind acceptance.
Numbers – used to be all the rage and it caused me to lose sight of the reason I got into geocaching – that euphoric feeling of just finding a cache and being at a location that was ‘awe’ worthy.

Yep it happens. I think it’s dumb and do not support/particiapte in the practice. Personally, I feel if a cacher doesn’t actually move a bug to a new cache, it shouldn’t be logged. Period. But everyone plays different.
Hi and Welcome to this madness! So glad to see another cacher from Green Bay.
If you ever need help, or someone to tag along on a hunt, just send an email. There are a lot of nice caches here in Green Bay to find so you’re lucky! You’ll find most of us cachers like to help when we can!
Good Luck!

AstroD-TeamCool. Keep in mind that the company I work for is a distributor of Garmin products. So if there is one that anybody is interested in, let me know and I will see what I can do.
Don
And maybe you could put the Jet Boil on the back……….
Seriously, I would love to own a couple.

Looking over the logs and posts, I decided it time to chime in with some diffeent perspective on the whole topic. All comments below are MY opinion.
In regards to events and logging temp finds, maybe we need to take a simpler approach and re-evaluate how we, in Wisconsin, do our events.
If the rest of the geocaching community seems to be extremely put off by the way we run our events, especially when it comes to logging the multitude of temporary event caches, maybe we need to give some serious consideration as to why. Are our Wisconsin events being held in what is the true spirit of an event cache?
Taken from GC.Com:
“In addition, an event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together cachers for an organized hunt of another cache or caches”.So how does the above statement not include the multitude of temporary event caches? Nearly every Wisconsin event we have been to in the last two years, including the ones we hosted, have all been about hunting the temporary caches. That might not have been the intent of these events, but it seems to be the main focus of them. It shows with the literally 100s of attended logs on nearly any Wisconsin event cache page.
Maybe its time we stop justifying the multitude of event logs with the typical common responses: “they never been to our events, they don’t know the quality of our event hides” etc etc etc. and focus on holding events that are not about having temporary caches.
As for us in 2006, each GCxxx number = one log.

AstroD-TeamBummer. AstroD-Team and Astronomers Lighthouse Hunters will not be attending. I hope you all have a fun weekend though!! We’ll be camping with 18 cub scouts that weekend down south.
Boy we are striking out on being able to attend events this year. [ ]
I am curious if you can elaborate more on how to implement a “cleanup of disabled caches” policy. There are several caches in our area that have been disabled for a long time. I have emailed the owners but they do not respond. Adoption is always an option but I am not sure about what one needs to do “officially” to adopt a cache.
I do think the WGA needs to implement some type of policy to streamline these processes a little bit faster.

So Beast, how did the predictions fare for 2005? Better yet, when can we see a new post for 2006?

Directly, no they do not post stats. However, your stats may be listed on the Milestones section if someone is paying attention to where you are at. Maybe I should have worded the question as such: What if you did not want your stats posted on House of Brew or in the Milestones section of the WGA boards?
Well, the new year is upon us. After tallying up the numbers and talking with the camp, we have room for about 10 more people if anyone wants to sign up. The deadline for registration and payment is January 14 or when space fill up. After this, sign up will be permenantly closed!!
Please remember this is a WEEKEND event and you must preregister/pay and stay on camp property to attend. No exceptions.
We look forward to a great weekend and meeting all the new cachers that are attending this year!
