Well for me I intend to cache much more differently this year.
First off, I’m on the search for quality caches. Which means no more park and rides, micros on the side of the road, or puzzle caches. I want to be out on the trails and enjoying why we got into this sport to begin with. Not finding a quick grab just to inflate our numbers.
I would also like to discover areas of Wisconsin I have never set foot in. Find those neat out of the way places that only geocaching can take me too. Only because I would never discover them otherwise.
Events will only be logged as one find. My main focus will be to meet others. I really don’t see the need or have the desire to spend all day looking for temp caches.
There are probably more things I’ll think of as time goes on, but this a good start for me. Not sure what the rest of my family thinks…….

Way to go Greyhounder! It has been an honor to cache with you in the past year and we look forward to doing so again soon.
We would certainly pitch in to reserve a group camp site if it’s a weekend we can make it. (I’d like to see it kept in June).
Having a young one with us who goes to bed so much earlier, we could leave him sleep in the tent and join the group conversations if it was in a group site this year. Last year, our camp site was far removed from the others and we couldn’t leave our little one in the tent alone and go walking 1/4 mile to socialize. That’s what we enjoy with the events. Thank goodness we had Greyhounder right across from us to bug all weekend!! She was a trooper to put up with us.
As far as rustic camping, last year was the first time we did it and had our 6 year old in tow. It was great! (I just wish someone would have told us to bring a cart!) The pit toilets were clean (especially after we sprayed ‘off’ in them), and well, the lake is right there if one absolutely needs to shower.
I look forward to seeing more definitive plans on this event. The seclusion of the place is well worth the trip – sharing that seclusion with other geocachers is even better!
Jacob has a can of fart fudge. If you ask nicely, he may let you play with it. He thinks it’s the greatest thing in the world!I, on the other hand, would gladly give it to you!!
Russell is a great guy! I had a blast doing the caches in Baird’s Creek with him. He’ll keep you laughing till your insides spill out!!
Fathers Day weekend works best for us and is really the only one that is available. We had a great time last year and don’t want to miss it so we really hope this date works out.
It would be nice if we could get one of the group camp sites for several reasons. 1) The group sites are closer to the docks.[ ] 2)It would feel more like an event if everyone was together.
The title says it all: Rock Island “GETAWAY”. What we really liked most about last year was that it was one of those very few events that you did not have to feel pressured into getting a bunch of caches. It was nice to relax and enjoy the surroundings and not to be on a quest to find a bunch of hides.
A great time and we highly recommend it!
Have you ever checked out the geodashing website? We have not had a chance to try it yet but it sounds kind of interesting. check it out here: http://geodashing.gpsgames.org/
All right….I just have to add mine into the mix. It all started when we went on a caching run with Taxman1.
It was getting near dusk and we had to get this last cache that was on the way home. We figured it couldn’t be too bad – it was an Ecoranger cememtery cache. While my hubby and son stayed in the van, Taxman and I made a dash for the cache. After signing our names and putting the cache back, I took off running back to the van.
The side passenger door was left open so I decided to make a running leap into the van. Push off foot was firmly planted, my form through the air looked good, but unfortunately, I forgot to duck! I ended up at full speed head first into the top of the door frame and then crumpled into a heap on the curb. I hit the van so hard that I actually rocked it back and forth!
Found out that I suffered a nasty concussion from the incident. Here I thought geocaching was supposed to be good for me!
What I wouldn’t give to have had this on video tape. It had to be funny!!!

Well it appears you got your wish hogrod; we have plenty of the heavy stuff now. Will you be holding an event so we can have a snowball fight? We can hide caches inside the snowballs (micro’s of course) and we can hunt in a 30 ft radius (acceptable accuracy of caches).
30ft of accuracy? You must be using a Magellan. I get much better accuracy with my Garmin.

Well, with our new seed cache and events coming up, we were going to start raiding the photo centers around town. If you want to save some postage costs, send me an email and we can arrange a time and place to meet.
Received my geocoins today! Great packaging and shipping job guys and gals! They arrived in pristine condition. Thanks for all your hard work!!!

KatrinaIf you’re referring to dogs and other pets – no, they are not allowed. Sorry.
OK…. Marc posted this topic because of me. I need not list my fears as Marc already listed them for me – mud and spooky noises not included!
