I completed 2N1 – that was about 5 hours.
Am working on the new Baird Creek Grand Tour. Got siderailed by WP #11. Anyway, I finally found it and am moving on to the rest of the WP’s. Not sure how many WP’s there are but I’m thinking its somewhere between 16 and 20. Did I mention I HATE micros?
Yeah, I probably spent that amount of time on the USS Geocache as well. Will be tackling this one with Ecorangers this coming weekend. Hopefully between us, we have enough of the pieces to finish this one up too.
Man, I should stop tackling the hard caches.
Rough count puts me at 127 caches within 30 miles (Not counting disabled caches).
30 are not done yet (I spent 15 hours so far working on one cache and am not even at the half way point!)
2 we own
1 is an eventGot some work to do, but hopefully I’ll finish this beast of a cache I’m working on and get back to those other caches around the area. It sure would be nice to see and cache something different.
It was great getting to meet you on the trails at the picnic and having the opportunity to chat with you later on in the day.
Congratulations on another great milestone! Keep up the caching and we hope to see you on the trails.
Kat AstroD-TeamCongratulations to both of you!! It was a pleasure to finally meet you at the picnic. Keep up the caching and hope to see you on the trails sometime.
Congratulations to the Ecorangers!! They never seem to take a break do they? We look forward to more caching get togethers with you guys. Keep up the great pace!
Kat AstroD-TeamHey Auntienae Congratulations!! It was great getting to meet you and it was a pleasure caching with you after the event. Keep up the great job!
Kat AstroD-TeamHaving done this cache, I like the term “wall plucking”. Bummer to see that it is being relocated.
Thanks all for your kind words of encouragement. I think we had more fun meeting and talking with everyone at the picnic than the actual find for #200. We are running out of caches up north here The pace will probably slow down soon.
O.K. I confess!! Kat of AstroD-team is guilty of not posting her DNF’s. I feel stupid when I can’t find a cache that everyone else seems to have found. This is especially true on any caches rated under a 2.5. Yep, it’s that pride thing.
Anyway, I have now found a method of logging my DNF’s: I make my hubby do it. He doesn’t care. It saves my pride (after all I’M not the one logging it),and it keeps the cache log up to date.
Problem solved.
I’ve been reading this thread and find all the comments interesting.
My opinion is that I would not like to see the coordinates posted, emailed or whatever early. Part of the fun is the surprise of what caches there are and where they will be the day of the event.
My view is that it’s simply an EVENT cache. Come to the event and get the coordinates.I see no need/reason for people to jump the gun and do these caches early. As far as families are concerned, we have to lug around a 5 year old. He doesn’t walk fast, he gets tired quickly, he doesn’t like brush, brambles, or long grass which slows us up and the result? We don’t get too do as many caches as we would like. That’s O.K!! We’re not petty enough to be concerned with how many caches we found by the end of the day. We would rather do the few we get to and enjoy the company of the other cachers we teamed up with.
I think the WGA Board has a lot of stuff on thier plates just putting together an event like this. How they are organizing and running these events is and has been quite successful. Cachers continue to go back to them year after year – even without preloaded coordinates.
Thanks for letting me have my opinion.
Kat – AstroD-TeamWay to go EcoRangers!! You inspire us all. It’s been fun caching with you!

My thought is to post a find for each cache found at an event. I say this because, the cache placements are well thought out(not haphazardly thrown into a bush), and whats the difference if I choose to spend time at an event finding caches vs going to another city to find caches? I’m still getting out, still geocaching and finding them. The only thing different is that an event brings geocachers together in one place to do what we all love doing.
I am still taking the time to find a cache, its just in a different setting that is a lot more fun.

In addition to most of the forementioned items, I also carry:
Small flashlight (red/white LED). (I don’t like sticking my hand into dark areas without first looking in it)
Benadryl (starve off those allergic reations)
Instant hand sanitizer/individually packaged wet wipes
Water purification tablets
Travel pack Tissues
SunscreenOn occassion my 6 year old son (depending on the terrain and distance).

We have been working hard at this series so we can hopefully get our final orders soon. The first 25 of the 28 have been both fun, challenging and frustrating. Looking forward to seeing what comes next with this one.
