Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. We have met a few of you already and look forward to meeting more soon.

If anybody is ever in the Green Bay area and wants to cache with someone, just drop us a line. Well, we pretty much have the Green Bay area done, but we are starting to tackle those that are in the 30-50 mile radius from us now.

As a matter of fact, we keep hearing a distant cry about 30 miles to our west:, it is a faint cry and it goes like this: “Naaavvvaaarrrriiinnnooo Boooobbbb”

We are thinking of attempting this on the weekend of August 7-8 if our schedule allows. Anybody else up for coming with us? It would be a lot more fun with a group.

in reply to: What Else Do You Do? #1747391

What else do we do? We are both into amateur astronomy so we do a lot with telescopes and educating the community to the wonders of the heavens above. I like to design and build them, AstroKat likes to use and abuse them. Both of us serve on the board of directors of our local astronomy club. When not doing that or working (sorry for the profanity) we are raising a 5(almost 6) year old. He likes caching only some of the time.

We have begun assimilating various other astronomy club members into the geocaching realm. Three other couples have started going out on their own now after we have shown them the ropes and we have also turned on the daughter of another club member.

It helps though that somebody donated a GPS unit to the club. People wonder “what can I do with this thing besides see where I am”? When they ask this, we know we have another GeoVictim.

We have a cache series idea in the works so stay tuned for more soon.

What do you mean re-hide them that well!?! That’s the way we found them after EcoRangers blew threw there a week ago.

Hey Ecorangers! Kudos from your biggest fans.
You are an inspiration to all of us families out there.

Keep on rolling and we’ll see ya at the picnic.

Green Bay also has a couple of tall ships in town this weekend. The replicas Bounty and Nina. Also a third ship is giving 1.5 hour cruises. If your further North than Port Washington, you might want to check out these ships.

If you still want to get some geocaching in, there is a micro “Land of the Titans” real close to where these ships are docked.

Tenner’s 2N1 cache (GCEFDC) in Green Bay would be good. The initial coordinates leads you to a micro that contains two sets of coordinates – both leading to caches. However, one set of the coordinates lead to an empty cache the other set – the prize cache containing the log book and goody exchange. But the kicker is, you don’t know which set of coordinates is which.
This park is huge and comes complete with lots of trails going up, down and around some good, steep hills. In addition there is the creek and lots of woods!
The cache page does say it takes about 2 hours to complete. (It took me a bit longer to do).
This is a challenging cache both in finding the caches and in dealing with the terrain.

in reply to: Jeep Travel Bugs #1747288

Brian sent us two of them and we placed one in our cache when we started it up three weeks ago. We were going to place the other one there after the initial hype died down but to my amazement two or three other jeeps have stopped by. I am beginning to think we should have called it a Jeep parking lot instead of a bug resort

I am not worthy!!! Wow, 800 finds. When are you guys going to come up to Green Bay and mop up the caches up here? I have a travel bug resort looking for some new occupants.

    Hi all,

I thought this was an interesting topic and decided to post my thoughts. I have recently created a TB resort here in Green Bay. In the three weeks since it has been created, there have been over 20 TB’s through it. We started out with 3 and there are currently 4 in there. To me this is the exciting part about the resort theme-the variety of bugs going through. I like to look and see how many miles they have traveled and what their goal is.

I don’t know what other people do, but when I created my resort, I also left some normal trade items as well so people could still trade something even if they do not have a bug to leave.

As the owner of the resort, my opinion is that if I see a bug or bugs that have been sitting here for a while, their vacation is over and I will try to grab them and move them along to somewhere else. Even if it is only a few miles down the road, at least it shows that there has been some activity with it.

If I know that I am going to be heading somewhere, I will check the bugs purpose and see if I can help it in its goal. If I am heading in the complete opposite direction, I would just leave it in the hopes that someone else can do better by it than I can.

I wonder if bug owners could do a better job in spelling out the bugs purpose? We were on vacation in Florida and picked up a bug that had nothing but the tag with it. When we got back home and were able to look it up, we found that it was placed in the cache about an hour before we got there and it’s goal was to get to Disney World. To top it off, the owner was there from Illinois. So we took a bug that was less than 300 miles from its goal and brought it further north than it started out. Had we known it’s goal, we would have left it. Talk about frequent flyer miles!

Gee, maybe that could be the next promotion after the Jeep one is done, get frequent flyer miles based on how far your travel bug goes!

Way to go Ecorangers! And to think we met you when you were only at 600. Gosh – that wasn’t too long ago either.
Congrats on your finds and look forward to celebrating at the geo-picnic.

Never been to this area and sure sounds like fun, but AstroD-Team will be wasting away in Margaritaville at the Jimmy Buffett concert.

Hey, the only weekend AstroD-Team has free in August!! Spent an anniversary at a B&B in Poynette. It is a very pretty area. Besides, I’ll be glad to get away from the Packer hoopla fo a day! (We live right near the stadium). Looking forward to the fun.
