Don’t tell me how to play the game! There are 20,000 other caches to look for in the state if you don’t like these caches!

    (Whoops, sorry, wrong thread!)

Wow, no need to get all upset about it. Sheesh!! 😆

Gee if I started receiving on my wall messages every time one of my FB friends found a cache, I’d have to put them all on ignore. That would be too many messages. Be careful what info you want to share!

Yes apparently it’s bad to do that, had someone get rather testy with me for posting all the caches I found once. I stopped doing it

One interesting tidbit about this site update in general. The release notes used to go into the mundane details of bug fixes. Either they didn’t have bugs to fix this go around or they’re no longer fully disclosing their updates.

That must be it, they’ve finally caught all the nasty little bugs…………….never mind. 😆

Having a way to log in using a single source log in like Facebook is nice but will only effect people going forward. Us old geocaching war horses that have been doing this forever will just end up sticking with our current username and passwork, or am I missing something?

Has always been that way in the guidelines, but what individual cache hiders do is an entirely different story. I personally haven’t found any caches like this but have heard stories.

Unfortunately it’s pretty difficult for the reviewers to police this issue from their end unless the cache owner says something in the cache page to indicate that the cache is buried.

I can see people mistakenly logging their caches as a find instead of a note, I’ve caught myself when dropping trackables.

I’ve been guilty of this on occasion as well.

We had a wonderful experience in Washington state at a gas station of all places. We had stopped there to grab a bite to eat at Subway and and the time I had my WGA hoodie on. Well this very friendly young gentleman approaches Karen and I and points to his hat which has the geocaching.com logo on it!

Well we started chatting, exchanged some TB discoveries, and we even provided him with a WGA pathtag and some pencils. Was a very positive all be it quick random encounter with a geocacher thousands of miles from home.

I have often thought that a number of people put way to much importance on finding all the caches. Personally I prefer to spend the time meeting new people, and visiting with old friends. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy me some power caching as much as the next guy but for this one weekend in August I would much rather sit back and enjoy some awesome geocaching fellowship.

When Karen and I attend the Cache Bash we rarely find any caches. To us it’s far more enjoyable to sit back, relax, and enjoy meeting the multitude of cachers from all over the world. We even sit up an easy up, put up tables and chairs, and make a day of it. All those caches will be there next weekend, the social aspect of this event are far more enjoyable then running around like a chicken with his head cut off to find as many caches as possible, we’ll do that other weekends.

Don’t sweat it, some people just don’t want to take the time to actually look at what they are looking for. If it was that much of a problem they could have just turned back and said forget it. Some people just aren’t happy unless they have something to complain about.
