Its been a few years since I last looked at the WGA website. The upcoming event prompted my visit this time. I’m actually more stressed after reading these posts than when I came home from work. However one describes “snarky”, to me its just plain unpleasant conversation. In any case, I will re-stock my cache thats in the area, and hope y’all have fun.
What a great time I had at Bjornson! Thank you so much to mama kat and DB for hosting and hiding.
What a great event at Bjornson!

What a wonderfully unique and creative cache idea! Kudos! Wish I lived closer and could take part.
This sounds absolutely wonderful! I’m looking forward to my first experience meeting other cachers…and what a great location!

Thank you for the JPG, its just what I was looking for! Geocachers certainly are welcome to hunt – as long as what they are hunting is a cammo painted ammo box!
Ummm what kind of gun? 30-30, 30-06,12 ga or 20ga? 😉 Or maybe a bow? 😛
If my cache starts behaving in such a way that a firearm is necessary to claim that smiley please let me know. I will have the voodoo curse removed from the cache. Then I will sell the land to the first bidder and move far far away, and possibly join a convent. 🙂
Yeah, I’ve never quite understood why people don’t read the cache page, but I know those people are out there. I’m trying to avoid getting those “I wasn’t sure if I could be here because of the No Trespassing signs” logs. I’m hoping that having the logo up will help resolve any hesitation people may have.

Another area you might want to check out is Lowes Creek County Park, south of Eau Claire, just on the other side of I94. There are about 20 caches there, hidden by a variety of cachers, so there are different hide styles and types. I think there’s only one parking area (locals please correct me if I’m wrong) so it means hiking through a beautiful park to get them all. I can’t remember for sure if bikes were allowed or not on the trails, but I seem to think they were allowed on at least some of them (locals please correct me if I’m wrong, again).
I had a great time caching that area last May. Most caches were regular sized, well spaced out (not a like power trail), and it was great to park & hike instead of driving from cache to cache.
I really enjoyed the Lowes Creek caches, and would highly recommend them. Not only are bikes allowed, but it is well known as an excellent off-road biking area. The trails can be biked or hiked, and some of the trails offer a significant degree of biking difficulty (although you don’t have to take the harder trails to get to most of the caches). The caches are almost all ammo cans, with some fun hiding techniques. If you are looking for a decent number of finds for your time, Lowes Creek is a great place to go. Not to mention that the scenery is beautiful!
There is one main parking area, and there’s only one ot two caches that would be faster to reach via road rather than via trail. The trails are great though, so there’s not much temptation to want to take any shortcuts.
Is that a shortcut? Oh no…
Most recently I camped at Interstate State Park and had a great time. Some good caches in the park (along with some great views), and there are tons of caches in the surrounding area. Another state park with breathtaking views is Wyalusing in far southwestern WI. I haven’t checked to see if there are any caches there, but the hiking is great. My all time favorite park is Devils Lake. The hiking is beyond compare, the views phenomenal, and its huge, so you will never run out of things to do or new trails to hike. Some of the best hiking can be pretty physically taxing, but they do a great job of posting terrain ratings for each trail. There’s room for alot more caches than are there now, but the surrounding area will keep you cache-happy. I always stay in the Ice Age Loop at Devils Lake. I’ve heard alot of great things about Governor Dodge, but haven’t been there myself.
Thanks hogrod for your help!
