After I got the bugs out of the updated version, I still wish I’d have kept the original. It works well now, but I still have issues with downloading caches to my hand-held Lowrance. I can do it, but in a much more complicated procedure than before. So in some respects, the newer version is easier for the Nuvi (once you get the bugs out), but not others. My original problem I had with the Nuvi didn’t have to do with the macro but rather with getting an error message that didn’t allow the poiloader to do it’s job. I’m not sure why but GSAK suggested that my virus protection, or something that arrived atttached on a pocket query, or just plain Vista gremlins may have compromised it. Anyway, uninstalling/reinstalling GSAK correctly solved the problem.

I’ve tried uninstalling everything and re-installing all of the programs required per the instructions on pilotsnipes but the same problem exists. It worked flawlessly prior to this newest version of GSAK.
“I had a similar problem and what I found in the GSAK forums that solve it for me had to do with the uninstalling/reinstalling of the program. Note that you’ll also have to delete all of the GSAK folders (data is not deleted when you uninstall GSAK). When you reinstall GSAK, use a known good backup to restore your data (File>Restore). But try renaming the data folder first – this may allow you to recover all of your databases except the one that was open the last time you used GSAK.

Welcome…from the land of the Blue Devils 🙂 I have a good friend that lives in Seymour…we have common interests like fishing, chocolate…but he’s not a cacher. So sad 🙁

For everyone who has posted “sticky” topics and advice in the WGA forums. I can’t begin to describe how much they’ve helped me. A BIG thank you[:D][:D][:D]

That’s unbelievable! I have a hard enough time solving them, much less finding them. Congratulations 😀

I always go to the Print Preview and look there first to see if it is all on the page or not. Sometimes I have to decrease the size to make what I want fit. The “fit to page” option does not always show everything (seems kinda odd it wouldn’t but…) I often reduce it to 70-80%
Yeah…I found that’s true too. Then I get out my magnifying glass to read it.

I had some problems when I installed the new version too and was tempted to switch back, but I went into the GSAK forums and was able to get some support help…now it’s working great. What seems to be the problem?

I thought deleting logs based on additional logging requirements was no longer allowed…or doesn’t this cache fall under that umbrella???

The growing number of TB’s (and geocoins) that go MIA.
People who (have one or two finds) and take a trackable then never respond to e-mails asking for help in moving them along. Ugh!
YIKES!My daughter gave me a geocoin for Christmas in ’07. I placed it in a cache in Boulder Junction and it didn’t move until spring, but in the course of two weeks it went to Texas and has been in the hands of a rookie cacher (6) since last June who hasn’t responded to numerous e-mails. At what point do I stop nagging and give it up??? I have at least two other tbs that went missing last summer…God only knows where they are.
As far as the maintenance issues, does a lot of it have to do with springtime and the effects of our wonderful Wisconsin winter climate and the fact that a lot of us are itching to get out and get going while some are not? I went on a run yesterday and had more than 1/2 dozen DNF’s, a couple of which I’m sure were just me…and I did some maintenance on several caches that I did find, mostly water-related issues. I don’t mind doing that…I figure somewhere along the line, someone will do the same for me. Maybe more patience and understanding is needed after chomping at the bit for so long, but it is frustrating. I sympathize.Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

I love the new places caching has taken me to…but I really love the planning that goes into placing new ones. I’ve been working on some placements that have some history behind them lately…interesting stuff. It’s hard to get the 5th grade teacher out of me 🙂

Garmin also provides directions for paperless caching using GSAK and the Garmin Poiloader programs although I’m not sure if it applies to your model…they haven’t updated there info in a while and I don’t know how new your model is:
