The FujnkyFinderz4 have set up a series of six caches called Mission Impossible (almost, nearly, not really) in Menominee and Marinette that are really creative and fun to do. So far they’ve activated 5 of the 6 starting with GC1MFF8.

I’ve already modified my one cache with an ALR. And I’m kinda glad I did…I had that delete threat on it that created some animosity. Since it was supposed to be a “fun” cache, it took away the fun for a couple of cachers. I’m not sure why I put it on there in the first place…but it’s not there now:) The last thing I want to do is create animosity in the caching community…maybe that’s why Groundspeak decided to regulate ALR’s.

My Nuvi took me on a shortcut through someone’s driveway last fall, across a field, out a farm driveway, and down a back road looking for a cache. It got kinda spooky…I knew I must have been in serious redneck country. On a knoll in the farm field was a WWII howitzer and a short distance away was a silo with a John Deere perched on top…I kid you not!

I got a new Garmin NUVI free from a Discover Card promotion last summer…that thing works slicker n anything. It downloads your pocket queries and routes from GSAK, shows all the info, decrypts the hints, and shows a few of the most recent logs…then directs you to the cache via map and vocal directions. Although it’s mostly for use in the vehicle, it does have a pedestrian mode. I use it to get to the cache area…then use my handheld. The downside is don’t let the battery wear down or get it wet. Over Christmas, I saw some being advertised for as little as $100…what a deal:)
