          I also agree with John. I frequently nominate COTM although I’m not as well traveled as the Hack’s. Because the website is not used extensively by many members, I’d suggest asking a couple of involved cachers in each region if they’d be willing to volunteer time to suggest nominees or to ask other cachers they know to nominate. That wouldn’t put the onus on the BOD. 🙂

            I found my second FTF this week…the first ones in ages…and the second by a matter of two or three minutes 🙂 Heading back to OC in a couple of days…having mixed feelings about that.

              As long as I’m prohibited from commenting on the weather, can I mention that I filled up with gas for $2.08 a gallon this morning?

                    Went on a birding tour at the Padre Island National Seashore yesterday…our group discovered a small beached whale at the North Shore Beach struggling to get back…reported it but don’t know what became of it. I stopped on the way back and the rangers were waiting for a dolphin rescue team from Port Aransis to either help recover it or euthanize it…pretty sad 🙁

                        I was surprised to find three Trumpeter Swans on the river below the spillway. It was my Christmas Bird count area, too. Where were they then????

                        We did some hiking in Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park today…birders galore carrying around binoculars and camera…were flashes of color everywhere. There are bird blinds scattered all over the park and the rangers actually set out feeding stations for the birds. My favorite was the Green Jay…also saw a couple of javelina 🙂

                                I got a new life bird today…Hoary Redpoll. Plus several first of the years. And a nice hike in the woods…at last!

                                We’re wintering on Padre Island…this is a birder’s paradise. I think you’d find lots of new life birds here. 🙂
