I put on my snowshoes and hiked into the new Oconto Preserve today…there’s currently only one short trail right now that loops into a hardwood area…very pretty with all the fresh snow. I could see maybe putting a couple of caches in this area. No mosquito or tick sightings 🙂

It was a beautiful morning in Oconto…snow started here about 1:00…I guess the school officials were dead on with their delay…smarter than your average bartrod! I haven’t gotten out to move any snow yet so I have no idea how much we currently have. Nor do I want to know just yet.
So the groundhog saw his shadow…big deal! There’s no way winter will be over in six weeks. On the bright side, I came out of hibernation last weekend to find some caches.

Oconto is opening in the morning…closing at noon. I know we’re off in the far corner of the state and will be one of the last effected but am not sure I understand their reasoning.
Is anybody else sick of the Iowa caucus? I sure am glad it’s being put to rest tonight…but I’ve heard rumors of a New Hampshire primary???

Hmmm…don’t have anything in the works but, now that I’m done mounting deer antlers for the season, I could start giving that some thought. Labzone has been constructing a new one and has a couple of more ideas that he’s been toying with.

I’m done playing pickleball for the morning…thought I’d find lots of interesting things in the forums to regenerate a few brains cells…apparently all I’m doing is moving the page along for the next FTPer…so sad 🙁

I am truly sorry to hear that happened to you, Rob. I remember seeing you at the picnic…you looked dog-tired from putting in a long, long day for the WGA. Your dedication can’t be overlooked and it’s great that you’re willing to replace all that was lost. I can commiserate with you…don’t know how many times I’ve misplaced one thing or another and drove myself crazy looking for it. Eventually it would turn up, sometimes in the most unexpected ways and places…and I hope this might the case for you too.

A couple of my friends and I went to the UWGB men’s basketball game last night in Green Bay…what’s normally a half hour drive took us well over an hour to get home…nasty driving and didn’t see a single snowplow on the highway 🙁
The score was 115-108 in overtime with GB winning…obviously a product of our cheering 🙂

Will see how that develops as money becomes available…some nicely maintained trails and boardwalks would reduce some of the tick issues…and it would be fun exploring during the early spring and late fall seasons when the mosquito population is diminished. The area has an abundance of “other” wildlife 🙂

I attended a meeting last night of the Northeast WI Land Trust explaining their proposed plans for the Oconto Preserve which they purchased last year. Someone in the forums, I think amita 17, suggested I place some new caches there. Some of the neighboring landowners educated me last night of the fact that the new preserve is mostly wetlands and a mosquito and woodtick heaven. Hmmm…don’t relish the thought of placing any geocaches there, much less looking for any 🙁

I’m not much into collecting although I have a few…but sure, I’d make a trade. Cache Advance made them for me…got a good deal.
