Don’t load pocket queries as favorites…is that what you did??? If so you might be able delete them all by plugging your unit into a computer, opening the Nuvi file, opening the gpx file, and deleting your query file. I don’t believe there’s a way to delete one individual cache. PQ’s should be loaded as Points of Interest (POIs), not as Favorites.

My wife and I went for a 2 1/2 mile hike on the peninsula at Star Lake. We looked for a large cache that we ended up DNFing. So sad! No wonder she doesn’t like to cache. But it was a great hike and a beautiful afternoon.

Hello threadstealers! Sorry for the short notice, but looking for suggestions for tomorrow. There is a wedding near Manawa, and then a three hour gap until the dinner. What is there to do? Local websites tout snowmobiling and fishing, neither of which are happening for different reasons. Geocaching is not an option. I am the most outdoorsy of all going, and that is not saying much. We will be dressed nicely anyway. Movie times don’t coincide with the open time. It is too far to drive home and come back. The area is pretty rural. Ideas on how to pass the time?

Packing the Jeep and the boat for a week in a cabin on Star Lake…Vilas County…90% of the land around the lake is state owned so it’s very quiet and peaceful:)

A man and his wife moved back home to Minnesota from Arizona. The wife had a wooden leg, and to insure it in Arizona was $2,000.00 per year!
When they arrived in Minnesota, they went to Sven’s Insurance Agency to see how much it would cost to insure the wooden leg. Sven looked it up on his computer and told the couple, “$39.00.”
The husband’s mouth dropped open and he asked why it was so cheap in Minnesota to insure it, because it had cost him $2,000.00 in Arizona!Sven looks to his computer and direct from Ole’s Minnesota Fire Insurance Company, it says: Any wooden structure, with a sprinkler system over it, is $39.00.

What kind of GPS unit do you have for your car? Is it factory installed or a portable unit like the Garmin Nuvi? I have a Nuvi that I download pocket queries to using GSAK…more efficient than handloading coordinates. I’ve named mine Catherine after a ditzy co-worker that actually thought she’d won the Nigerian lottery. She’s tried to take me down ATV and snowmobile trails and, yes, taken the “long scenic” route on frequent occasions like yours has. You just have to use common sense when listening to her and think twice before following her directions. I like to zoom out to see what route she’s plotted for me.

The grandkids are in town for the rest of the week. We played pirate and took the boat up the river looking for treasure this evening. Arghh!!

Apparently most of the native plants do fine with black walnut. Not the columbine. Hostas apparently love it and it kills a lot of weeds. If allowed to compost six months, nothing will be bothered by black walnut mulch. Most annuals do okay with it, too.
So I should mostly be okay with what’s been spread already. The offending chemical is called juglone. The internet can be amazing sometimes!
I have several VERY large black walnut trees in my yard and they have to be about the most toxic thing I know. Years ago, when we first moved into our present home, I had parked my car under one of them and the sap started to peel the paint off. I’d heard tell that the native Americans used the nuts to fish…dump a bunch in a pond and watch the fish float belly up. My walnut trees have killed off a variety of landscape projects. I have to move my compost pile away from the garage which is located under one of the trees. The nuts roll off the roof in the fall into the compost pile and taint it…have found out from personal experience to only use the compost for fill.
Just sayin’…I wouldn’t try any project involving black walnut products and expect it to successfully grow.Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
