I’ve been on vacation for 8 years…hard to believe it’s been that long. I missed those little 5th graders a lot…for a while. Now when I see them they’re all grown up…last class will be sophmores in college next fall. Sigh.

Just got back from a week’s fishing trip in Chetek…only two caches found…one at the boat landing and the other at the Cadott Veteran’s Tribute where we stopped for breakfast on the way back…lots of fish in the freezer though:)

We just rototilled some of the dust so that we can plant this year’s rabbit food, and in the process, we most likely planted several hundred new maple trees.

I came up with a solution to that years ago…now I mow it:)

Note that the Wizard has done his spring maintenance on the Yellow Brick Road…and check out that new version of the Dorothy Gale cache at the trailhead in Oconto!
I’ve noticed a number of new caches that have popped up around the Antigo area…will have to get over that way soon.
And Sweetlife’s sodoku series in northern Oconto County is a must-do…it takes cachers to a number of very scenic areas…and is a lot of fun:)

So sad! The snowy owl that I’d seen on a couple of occasions around Oconto this winter was found dead out near the breakwater. It was sent in for testing and is the first confirmed case of a wild bird having contracted the avian disease that’s dessimating all the chickens.

Ha! I got this one from someone today and have to share it:

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the Nova Scotia back country.
As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn’t stop for directions.I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late.
I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play.
The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I’ve never played before for this homeless man.
And as I played “Amazing Grace”, the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished, I packed up my bagpipes and started for car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.
As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I never seen anything like that before, and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.”
                      Apparently, I’m still lost….it’s a man thing.

Really sorry to hear about Deb’s dad…she’s had a lot of sadness in her life this past week:(

The first oriole sighting yesterday…another at the feeder today. No hummingbirds in Oconto yet though.

I put out my hummingbird and oriole feeders yesterday…hoping the warm weather brings them north soon.

I didn’t put parking coordinates on one of my recently published caches…at least I didn’t think I did…but Bec informed me that there were indeed coordinates and they were for someplace in Europe! Yikes!!! It was quickly corrected but I can understand why the reviewers think there’s a lot of crazy cachers out there trying to place new caches. Apparently I’m one of them…my apologies.

I remember caching in that park after the winter solstice event this winter…great scenic area…can’t believe that image has been ruined:(
