That’s too bad. Many rest areas are equivalent to mini-parks in their upkeep and they make for good cache placements.
Perhaps it’s different in other areas of the state, but the rest areas around the Fox Valley area ARE very much like public parks. Restroom facilities and picnic tables…they are greenspaces designed to allow drivers a chance to relax and recharge from driving. I certainly don’t agree that geocaching or any of the “other” activities detract from a rest areas purpose.
I thought the West Bend Cache Ba$h souvenir was neat. I really like the “authentic” look to it.
As for states, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania are well done and classy. The other states I have…I’m not much of a fan of the style of artwork on most of them. Reminded me a lot of Calvin & Hobbes or Peanuts. Great cartoons but I was hoping for better as far as souvi’s go.
I love weird things and I’ve already found a handful of the caches on the list, so I’d love to complete the challenge! Great idea!
Covert Cache While I’ve not found the cache itself (I’m not sure if I was a geocacher at the time or not), I’ve been in the establishment it resides in and it’s an absolute must-see place. It’s even more fun if you don’t know the password to enter!

I’m looking to add some new states and to complete the Triad (Original Stash, Lilypad and Ape Cache).
To get a cache published that has taken me forever and a day to find a good spot for.To double the number of puzzle caches I found last year.
To figure out how many puzzle caches I found last year π
I’m not sure how you’d be in violation of anything. Geocaching.com is just a listing service, same as opencaching.com, terracaching.com, navicaching.com, etc. They don’t own YOUR cache, they just allow you to list it on their site if it meets the guidelines.
I’d say the only thing you probably can’t do is promote your opencaching listing on your geocaching.com page.

Here’s my Cache Appreciation Ratio:
# of hides / # of finds = CAR
The higher the CAR, the more likely the cacher is to replace hides as intended, write meaningful logs, and otherwise express appreciation to cache owners.
The lower the CAR, you get the opposite, all the way down to when you get a zero.
5/843=0.59%, so I’m going to round up to 0.6%…woohoo! It’s accurate too, because not only do I not replace the hides as found, I usually throw the container (without closing the lid, of course) as far as I can chuck it into the woods, I only copy and paste TFTC in my logs and if the owner wants some appreciation, they can send me money and I’ll be happy to sing their praises π― π
Seriously, I always strive to rehide as well or better. Better in the instances where adding natural camo helps conceal the cache. When I can, I walk around the hiding spot in a circle just to make sure the cache isn’t exposed from the backside.

************** WHAT A TACK FOR A NIGHT CACHE!
Snapped this photo of the FULL MOON last night, up through the leafless branches in a stand of hardwoods, while caching along the Peshtigo River.

I’ve been seeing alot more orange colored tacks lately…but not quite this big π― π

That looks like it turned out very well. Nicely done!

So really, what’s UP with your altitude ?
We were curious one day as to what our TOP Ten caches found would be in terms of altitude. Found a GSAK macro and this is what we have to date:
GC1940 Teton Pass Cache United States Wyoming 8520 ft
GC15A1H Yellowstone Γ’β¬β North AmericaΓ’β¬β’s Hot Spot United States Wyoming 8332 ft
GC14YV1 The Lake that Drains to 2 Oceans United States Wyoming
8306 ft

Be interested to see who went up where and how high.SGH & BB
I’ve done the Teton Pass Cache. The “climb” wasn’t too bad and the view of Jackson was spectacular π
The two earthcaches also had virtuals in the same spot. I stopped doing E/C’s at Yellowstone once I realized I couldn’t keep the information straight. I kept getting the info mixed up or lost, so I opted to do virtuals instead. The Yellowstone-North America’s Hot Spot is the same location as GCGFRQ –A Butte-iful Lake View and The Lake That Drains to 2 Oceans is the same as GCH5EM –Oceans Bound. Looking back, I wish I had done the E/C’s as well, but there’ll be another time for that 8)
As for the others…those will have to go on the waiting list π―

Thanks for the heads-up! A good weekend to knock out a few night caches.

when a cache is denied because of proximity issues the submitting cache owner (and the world) is notified about the nearby cache.
Interesting. I’ve never seen this sent to the “world”, but am wondering if it accidentally got sent to the new notification list? Or some other list. I’m kind of curious, because as a programmer this would seem to be a huge flaw in the system. Notifying the submitter that there are proximity issues seems reasonable, but I assume that only goes to one account.
I’ve never seen a notification for other peoples rejected caches, either. That’s weird. Not much of a consolation for you at this point, peach, but let’s hope it was just a one time thing.
Excellent work! I ordered an extra to play Geo-Santa with. Thanks for the heads up, -cheeto-!
This looks like a very fun challenge cache, zuma! It might take me years, but I plan on finishing it. I looked up my stats and I did find two of the caches required already, so only 24 to go! Of course, the two I found were the two closest caches to me π
Tell the person that the magnet/decal should be treated like a TB tag and that whatever it is attached to is part of the travel bug. It was attached to the car, so the whole car is the travel bug.
But, I’m with you…how can someone, after it’s been explained and requested to be returned by the TB OWNER, not honor that request? Seems pretty ignorant.
