I certainly don’t mind adding a new log sheet or bag while out caching, I keep those supplies in my caching bag. But on the other hand, CO’s really do need to maintain their caches. An event could be a fun way to do this but what about the next time the caches need maintenance?

            Hi All,

I’m looking for someone to set up and run an informational Geocaching table for National Night out on August 6th in Kewaskum from 5 until 9ish. Being a Geocacher myself I thought it would be a great idea to get more families and people involved in our sport. I would be happy to answer questions and give more details. Just looking to see if anyone would be interested in doing this.

            Thanks for reading,

I could possibly do it, I’ll have to think a little about my schedule.

It’s always a good idea to check in with the cache owner with puzzles. I think that they usually are helpful as long as they can see that you’re making an effort. Of course every CO is different.

I just finished up the WI Playlands Challenge, now it’s time to pick another to work on.

My Nuvi once told me to turn off the road and on to a deer or water path that was a several hundred foot drop-off on the side of a mountain. Well, I would have gotten down the mountain a little quicker…

The journey IS the destination though, and I hope people aren’t missing out on some of the wonders out there by staying close to home. One less dinner out equals one more tank of gas. There are waterfalls, wild rivers, towering cliffs and sweeping vistas to be found in that next county, next DeLorme page and next Fizzy grid! .

                            How very poetic! 😀

Well, you’re in luck. There are lots of great caches in your area, many of them are perfect for newbies. Most of the caches hidden by Mr. Greenthumb and Sunshine are excellent for those starting out with geocaching. There are many caches along the Bugline trail, in fact I think it’s completely full!

Best of luck to you and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me, I live in Waukesha so I’m familiar with the area.

We’re slowly working on the Delorme challenge, and show our progress on our GC profile page (we have all of the challenges we’re working on shown on that page). We love challenges! Having said that, we are more focused on the Badger State Challenge GC15WT3 (find a cache in all 72 WI counties) rather than the Delorme, which has arbitrary borders, but we’re working on both. We only have 6 of the 72 counties remaining, and plan to grab the three we need from NW WI this summer. I imagine that after we complete the Badger State Challenge, the Delorme challenge will take on a greater significance.

My guess is that one of the factors in the “diminished” interest in the Delorme Challenge is that there are so many other challenges out there. Plus as others have mentioned, park & grabs etc. also compete for one’s time and resources these days. Sounds like a good topic for the WGA newsletter and geocaching continuing education seminars…

I’m pretty sure that you just volunteered to write an article for the next newsletter about challenges. Thanks Hack1of2, I appreciate it and look forward to reading it! 😆

Yup, the cost of gas really puts a damper on things. I do drive a lot but I usually have an additional reason to be going when I get out of our immediate area. Plus, I guess I’m more interested in a challenge that means more than just visiting an area just to put a smiley in it. I did that Half-Trail challenge because I got to visit different parts of the IAT but I have a feeling if I were doing the Delorme Challenge I’d just be looking for PNG’s to quickly grab one on that page and then move on. That’s why I’m currently working on your state parks challenge, and very much enjoying it!
