Thanks for the recommendations. I remember we went to one of the state parks, I believe there was a tower, and at the ranger station there was a big container of bird seed. We went out and held out our hands and they landed in them and ate seeds from our hands. It was so cool! I felt like Snow White.

An idea that I’ve had in the back of my mind for some time would be to write an article for that FTF Geocacher magazine bragging about what great caches we have around here. I also would talk about the WGA and what a supportive organization it was. Of course, this isn’t exactly bringing in new people to geocaching, just telling more people about the WGA.
When I taught my geocaching camp last summer with the YMCA I talked about the WGA. I tried to tell them about how there were more aspects of the game than simply making the find. I talked about the social aspect of it, about how the WGA was a group of people who all enjoyed the same hobby even if the people enjoyed it in slightly different ways.

A large huh? Not even a regular sized one? I think a large would be pretty hard to hide in an urban area and make it a difficult hide (although I’m sure Ranger Boy could do it). So instead I’d just go with it and make it totally obvious, probably permanently attach it to something so the container wouldn’t be muggled, and check on it often to refill the swag. I’d probably put some sort of funky duct tape and possibly even elephant ears on it to make it fun.

I have all of those events marked on my calendar and am planning on attending. I’m already in on the discussion of planning for the WGA chili event and I plan on helping out if I am needed for the others. Now I just have to decided if I want to buy a new tent or tent trailer for the campout as our old tent died in Yellowstone and we threw it away. If I am elected to the board you can certainly count on me to do my part in helping with the events or other help out in other ways that are needed.

I updated mine since there were 2 other geocachers in the exact same place. Eh, I might as well, my address is listed in the phone book anyway.

Because of scheduling conflicts the past few years I’ve only been to one Cache Bash, which was last summer, so I’m not sure I’m an expert in this area. But the impression that I got was that the Bash was West Bend’s “party”. While the WGA had a booth there and was available and definitely had a presence there helping out, I don’t think it would be appropriate to do much more than that. The pancake breakfast the next day was great as the festivities of the Bash seemed pretty much over from the city’s perspective. I had a great time talking with other WGA members and was glad that I came back for it.
